What are considered the big-name cosmetology schools? I'd like to attend one part-time but am having trouble choosing. Thanks in advance! (I'm in Chicago, if that helps.)
The big hair-oriented ones are Redken, Aveda... those are the only two i can think of at the moment. i was thinking of doing cosmetology school as well, once i finish up undergrad.
The only big name beauty schools in Chicago are Pivot Point International, Aveda, and Paul Mitchell the School. There is also Capri Beauty college which is a Pivot Point member school. All of their tuitions are around 20,000-25,000...Do keep in mind that Truman Community College has a Cosmetology program though (1500 tuition). I was once told by a senior stylist at a very popular Chicago salon that getting the liscence is all that really matters, you will learn the majority of what you need to know on job.
I forgot about them. They are great too, and mostly all black...but they don't accept financial aid ...that may or may not be a problem for you though...
I was also gonna say Pivot Point especially if you are in Chicago. I'm attending a Pivot Point member school in the Atlanta Area in 2 weeks. They are know for thier great curriculum but as a PP said, I too heard that all that matters is your actual license. You learn everything else as an apprentice.
