Cornrows on relaxed hair - product advice

Forgive me if this has been already asked, but what do you relaxed ladies use on your hair when applying cornrows or box braids to tame the fly aways? I plan to use both to stretch (without extensions) but my hair starts to fly away pretty quickly. I saw a youtube clip where someone used gel, but I want to use something that will both moisturize and hold (lightly). Any ideas?

Aloe vera gel-all natural, moisturizing and gives a firm but not hard hold. Either that or a little mousse smoothed down the length should help.
