Any of you tried this iron before? The concept is interesting. Looking at it at ulta right now

I saw these at marshalls.... I was thinking about going back and picking one up... If I do I'll review in a week or 2

I watched an infomercial for this thing, and from what I understand it's just a flatiron that doesn't get "very" hot. There may be something else special about it, but I feel like one could easily just turn the temperature on their flatiron down and save $129.

Let me know if I'm wrong lol

From what I understand, it senses the optimal temperature to flat iron your hair on. I think it was more the products you used with it that helps. I would be interested in trying their product line but the flatiron itself doesn't seem that grand.

Saw this infomercial too and thought it was risky buiness considering a device will determine how hot to get for my hair. That paired with the device just being released and already ending up in Marshalls? I'd be weary.

That sounds pretty cool actually (no pun intended)...but it seems like it never goes over a certain temperature. Has anyone tried it before?

I took a look at the item this morning at Marshalls and decided it wasn't worth it....

And after reading the comments and thinking it through I don't want to risk the flat iron damaging my hair!

I think there's a thread or two on here about the flat iron and someone did try it out. I forget what her results were like though.

I bought it from ulta last night and I'm currently testing it out.

You have to pass the iron 3 times on a small section of hair and it finds your optimal temperature. Mine is 298F. Surprisingly my hair is getting pretty straight at the low heat. I'll post a pic when done.

I had considered buying it but decided against it when they brushed me off for asking about type 4 hair. A majority of what they show are types three and up... which is great but I need to know how it would work on MY hair. And I really don't like being snubbed. I'm sticking to my Solia & Maxiglide.

Ok well I don't like the results... But could be because I was being rushed and I didn't use the products it came with. It straightens my hair with 1 pass and 2 passes in the curlier section if my hair. Not sure why the end result was poofy.

I'll try it one more time when I have the time to do my hair properly. If I get the same results next time I'll return it and get a chi

I tried it again today and followed the direction and products to a T and my hair turn out frizzy. I returned it and got an ultra chi with tourmaline and ceramic plates.

HI girls!
I just saw this product in an article on Yahoo - and came right to LHCF to see what you ladies thought.....

Yes. Obviously... My theory of Steam treating will get your hair where it needs to be. I don't think I need their spray or iron to figure that one out!

Thanks ALL!:look::look::look:

The Coolway Flat Iron is a great system for people who want to avoid damage to their hair. The Iron comes with a spray, and the spray is ESSENTIAL in giving you results with the low heat iron. You don't necessarily need to use their iron - the spray with any good quality ceramic iron set below 300 degrees will work... (and by good quality, I don't mean a $20 conair flat iron!!) and you have to put the spray in your hair when it's wet and blow dry it out straight. The spray needs to put moisture back to get good results... so the first time you use it, you are going to have to use a lot of spray to repair your previous hair damage. The benefit of their flat iron is that it never gets hotter than 300º and it will actually auto set to the lowest possible temperature for your own hair to get good results. When I first got the iron I just took it out of the box and ignored the products... thinking "I know how to use an IRON" .... and just ran it through my hair. Results were ok for me since my hair is naturally straight - but when I went back and actually read the directions and used the products correctly, results were 200 times better. I didn't even need the flat iron to straighten my hair.

It's not a quick get up and go system where you can wake up 5 minutes before work and melt your hair straight and run out the door. I own the system and from time to time, I don't have enough time to take a shower and blow out my hair -- so I do keep my professional CHI on hand for quick emergencies-- but every time I watch it smoke up after passing it through my hair, I know I'm going to pay for it later. Another good thing about the Coolway Flat Iron is that the casing never gets too hot to touch, and your hair never gets too hot that it burns your face/fingers.

People get easily frustrated with it because they don't have the patience to style their hair properly, or use proper technique to blow out their hair. You have to put the time in to use it correctly and take care of your hair. You blow dry the spray into your hair with a round brush -- basically the spray will help you blow out your hair almost completely straight, which minimizes time spent using the iron. It becomes more of a finishing tool. You won't get good results from the flat iron itself... the spray is what allows you to style at low heat. It's pretty amazing, it doesn't weigh your hair down. I actually had to lay off using the spray too much because my hair is very fine, that I almost need a little frizz to have some volume. If you've got good technique with a blow dryer, (never blow dry hair from soaking wet to dry... let it air dry as much as possible-- your hair will only set in the last 20%) -- you can get great results with the spray on it's own. The more you use the spray consistently, the less frizz you will have. The spray itself is a little "perfumey" -- some people love it and others don't care for the scent. I don't mind it.

It's a great product -- and it does work very well, but only when you put the time in to use it correctly. If you don't have the time to take care of your hair and prevent damage, or to use the spray/iron the way the directions say -- this system may not be for you. You don't get instant results that you would by melting your hair straight with a 400º+ flat iron in 4 minutes... but then again, you don't get the breakage, split ends, brittle hair or heat damage... that you get from a tool that gives you immediate results. Basically it allows you to style your hair straight without the damage, instead of melting it straight and causing even more damage. The spray allows you to avoid using high heat to style, avoiding damage to your hair. The more you use the spray, the longer the results will last from day to day.

You'll hear some people who don't care for the system -- but most of them are not using the products, are not blowing out their hair correctly, or not using enough spray on the first application to compensate for the current hair damage, or not putting in the styling time/technique to get the good results. We're so preconditioned to just ironing our hair straight in a matter of minutes that we get impatient.

If you buy the product on their website, it comes with a 30 day money back guarantee so there's nothing to lose if you don't like it. Just pack it up and send it back. But I will say -- you cannot get good results without using the spray correctly -- the iron by itself doesn't work -- and you need to have the time/patience to style your hair correctly. You can melt your hair straight in 5 minutes with a professional high heat iron -- but if you have 20-25 minutes to blow your hair out and style it correctly with this system, you'll avoid all the damage, breakage and brittle/split ends.

At the end of the day, not everyone will LOVE it -- it will depend on your lifestyle, hair type, personal preferences, ect... or even how much time/patience you have to style your hair... but there's no risk to try it.

Hope this helps.
