Considering not DCing at all anymore

I suggest you try JBB Avocado & Silk DC. You don't even have to apply a leave in after it. Eisani had a thread about it.

I would definitely try the Aubrey Organics line. Island Naturals, Honeysuckle Rose, White Camellia...all the bomb! Also, Jessicurl WDT, Hairveda Sitrinillah are also great.

Honeysuckle Rose, Tried that. It did nothing for my hair. It just sat there. I need something that is really heavy and i am eyeing Jessicurl

I think DCing with penetrating oils is awesome and I do it weekly! No "deep" conditioners my way! I've only tried coconut oil and evoo but I will be adding avocado oil if I get a job one day! lol

Me too. I mix EVOO, coconut oil, castor, wheat germ oil and blend in an ripe avocado.

I would say give ao honeysuckle rose more than once chance
I wasn't impressed at first either, now it's a staple. finish off the bottle, i really believe that DC helped turn around the moisture level in my hair gradually with consistent use

and it is truly is really heavy, try mixing it with coconut oil to help it spread. and use it with heat too

At least not with conditioners anyway. I find that any conditioner that I have used thus far for my DCs has been NOTHING to write home about. As a matter of fact, I have started using just oils as my DC because I noticed that whne I do, my hair is incredibly soft! Like I wanna play in it soft but I guess that I have been indoctrinated that I need a conditioner.

I want a dc that is CG friendly n I tried AOHRS... not impressed at all. I might just stick to my oils .. so far so good

This is interesting. I've noticed the same thing with my hair. I mean, it will be soft while its still wet but once it dries, I always need something else and wonder how women go the week without putting anything in their hair. Mine would just dry up, I wondered what the point was in DCing for me besides making my hair easier to comb on wash day.

Neutrogena's triple moisture line, but especially the deep conditioner have done wonders for my curls. Its relatively inexpensive, you really dont need to use alot. and even just 5 minutes sitting on ly hair in the shower makes a difference, but when i dc at the spa- I wash my hair, dc, sit in the dry hot sauna and then the steam room.. my curls just pop and my highlights gleam and feel silky again... I recommend. after i wash it all i use is the leave in from the same line, aloe gel and some type of glossing serum- the one at burke williams spas smell and feel deelish

Maybe you may need to add oils to your dc to make them work or combining conditioners together.
this what i do... i use giovanni direct & i add coconut oil (this is one of the few oils that actually penetrates the hair shaft) put on hair w/plastic cap... put on a heat cap & dc for 30-45 minutes... voila... extremely conditioned hair

There are lots of long haired ladies here that don't dc so it really isn't the end of the world. I stopped dcing on a regular basis about a year ago. My hair is stilll thriving and growing. I still use henna pretty often though and my hair always has plenty of moisture in it. I used to have extreme problems with dryness.

Ok ladies i have to bite my tongue. I DEFENITELY see the benefits of DCing after a month of having a sew-in in my hair and taking it down. My curls barely popped! But i digress, i am still on the search for my perfect DC

I get the most benefit from pre-pooing on dry hair rather a traditional DC. The AOHSR does nothing for me as a traditional DC but as an overnight pre-poo it is the truth! My hair has never felt like soft ever! I now pre-poo with all conditioners overnight to see how they affect my hair.

AHORS, Elasta QB, and This Tea Tree DC by Curls.biz ... That last 1 was just awful. The only DC that i can honestly say worked for my hair was my own personal one that i made with Pure Unrefined Shea Butter, Coconut Oil, and Olive oil. That was the only 1 i really loved. It SAVED my hair in the winter. I might just go back to that...

How do you make this? Do you rinse it out? TIA:grin:
