Does my hair need more moisture on a daily basis?

Issue: SO I just washed hair and I put in a conditioner, it seems my hair got dreaded and I have to section and comb it all out, major shedding...

Any advice welcomed...

I think it is dryness, as I never moisturize after styling, like during weeks, etc.... Going forward I do plan to con wash and oil scalp and ends more often, but wanted you ladies thought...

How many days or weeks do you go between detangling sessions? It could just simply be you are not detangling often enough, or "properly" for your hair. You should try to detangle and section your hair off BEFORE you wash your hair so it does not mat up when you wash your hair.

I don't see how dry hair would cause your hair to tangle and shed. Break off yeah, but shed, no. Shedding is normal unless you are going bald because of it.

@ms-gg, I usally wash and put in a wet pony, doing a two-strand twist with ends, leaving in for about a week if not more... :perplexed.. I think I just have that hair that tangles/mattes(sp?) easily...

BTW, I did de-tangle before washing... combed out that is...

I agree with ms-gg. Even if your hair is prone to tangle, there is a lot you can do with both product and technique to reduce if not eliminate this.

You didn't give a lot of information in your original post so I'm just going to give some steps.

1. Detangle/Remove shed hairs sufficiently prior to washing. You can use something to give you some slip to do this. If your hair is up for a week then you have shed hairs hanging out.

2. Section your hair off prior to washing.

3. If your hair feels tangly after you shampoo, get a new shampoo or dilute your shampoo, add AVG and an oil to reduce the harsh affects.

You can also buffer which is to apply an instant conditioner over the shampooed hair prior to rinsing the shampoo out.

So at this point if you pre detangled, your hair was in sections and your shampoo was reduced in a stripping effect, whatever tangling occurs by the time you condition should be reduced or gone.

You can also add an oil rinse prior to condition to help further reduce tangles.

I agree with ms-gg and faithVA. While you hair is in that ponytail, every day about 100 hairs get shed and so unless you meticulously remove about 400-700+ hairs after that time has passed, you probably still have shed hair caught in there.

Also I don't know what products you use but if your hair isn't being left in an acidic state, then it's bound to tangle more easily.
