Perhaps this has been posted somewhere else. If so, I would appreciate a point in the right direction. I was in love with ORS Replenishing Pack but sadly our love affair is coming to an end. I have about 2 more packs & after that I don't want to buy it anymore. Instead I really would like a reasonable cone free/paraben free DC. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance...Nakia

Dang girl, you read my mind! I was just thinking about this yesterday. I was searching this entire site to see if anyone had done a previous post about cone and paraben free DC's. I like my L'oreal DC, but my ends have been feeling dry lately, and I feel it's from the cones. I used to make my own DC's and my hair felt a lot more moisturized, but they were entirely too messy and drippy. I would prefer to buy an all natural DC.

I know of a few
Aubrey Organics- White Camelia, HoneySuckle Rose or GPB and Rosa Mosqueta are excellent Deep conditioners and Prepoos without cones.
check them out at www.aubrey-organics.com They can easily be found in any Whole Food or Vitamin Shoppe

I am about to do this same thing. I think the cones in ORS are contributing to my dryness problem, especially now that it's winter. AO Honeysuckle Rose works very well for me. I have heard the White Camellia condish is good, too.

:yep: The White Camelia is EXCELLENT.

Can I ask a dumb question... when you guys say cones, are there such things as good cones? Are they just the devil, period?

No particular ingredient is the devil per say (unless you are allergic to something or your hair just doesn't like it)

Even silicones have their places in a healthy hair care regime

Cones are not bad, it's just that it makes certain people's hair feel dry because they serve to seal moisture in the hair, but can also seal it out. My ends feel dry since I began using a conditioner with cones in it. But I've heard of people who have no problems with cones at all, so it all depends on the individual.

Thanks for the suggestions about Aubrey Organics...But now I don't know what to choose from: The White Camellia conditioner or the Honeysuckle one. They both seem really appealing. I'm drawn to the first one because it has Camellia oil in it, and I'm drawn to the second because it has shea butter in it. Decisions, decisions!

P.S. Does anyone know of any stores or places (besides online) that sell Aubrey products?

It depends on your hair. For some people cones build up in the hair and block moisture. It's the non-water-soluble ones that tend to give problems. You need a sulfate poo to get rid of them. On the other hand, cones are the main ingredients responsible for slip & protecting your hair from heat. If your hair is responding fine, there's no need to get rid of your conditioners or moisturizers just b/c of one ingredient :).

I didn't really have a problem with them until the weather changed. I noticed my hair gets dry but it feels coated w/ something plasticy. It's a problem for me cuz my staple poo is sulfate free & I don't like to clarify too often. Once the weather warms up & my hair is not quite as dry, I will probably reincorporate the ORS Pak into my regimen.

Get them both...your hair will thank you:yep:

See, I'm thinking that it might be the weather on my end, too. But it just occured to me b/c sometimes my hair does fine with cones & then sometimes it doesn't. The temperature just nosedived here & now I don't like how this ORS has my hair feeling. Like you silver, I may try again in the summer...unless I find a really good one & it becomes a staple.
