I color my hair occassionally with store bought products and what ticks me off is that usually the conditioner that is included with the hair color gives my hair more slip than any other conditioner on the market.

The worst part about it is that these conditioners are usually not otherwise available. I just used Clairol's Natural Instincts and the conditioner broke my hair down so nicely, but of course it's not on the market.

Has anyone else experienced this? I guess I'll just have to stock up on hair color. :perplexed

I think the reason for the slip is because they tend to be loaded with silicones. (Which, isn't a bad thing if your hair likes silicones of course)

Yes, I have experienced this and agree that it's the cones. Last semester, me and one of the girls on my floor decide to go half on about 10 boxes of hair color. She got the color and I took the conditioners out of all of them.

oh is that why?? hmm that stuff does work great tho. I have a tube of clairol 3 continuous conditioning gloss / herbal essences fearless color/weekly treatment from whe i put highlights in one of my other wigs and that stuff does give incredible slip.

YES! The conditioner that comes in Loreal Feria is TDF. I love it... my hair loves it. Of course its not sold as a regular conditioner though. Last time I colored my hair I used a pair of scissors to open the conditioner tube to make sure I got all the conditioner out. Yes I know I'm sad...But it is THAT good.

Actually - they DO sell Feria's conditioner separately!!!
I used to get it ALL the time because I loved how the conditioner made my hair feel. Go to Sally's, and check out the section where all the hot oil treatments and sample size stuff is, and you should see the Feria conditioner.
