So, after my BC I finally have a reasonable amount of hair -- still not very much (3.5-4in), but enough to feel okay about it. My mother thinks that revealing my BC to my extended relatives would be "too shocking", even though my uncle has expressed pro-natural statements in the past -- then again, her natural x 2 hair is longer than the wig she wears, and she still hasn't worn it out once. And there's some hesitance on my part as well, because I've been wearing shoulder-length straight wigs lately, so showing my real, kinky, ear length hair would mean that everyone would know that my hair had been fake before... I'm pretty paranoid about maintaining consistency/the illusion of realism when it comes to my hair. Furthermore, I may want to go back to wigs in the future to get a new look and/or give my hair a rest, and I don't want to be prone to "scalpings" and other embarrassing moments/comments at the hands of my friends and family. What do I do, ya'll? Do I just get everyone to accept that I may go all Sydney Bristow with my hair?

I've bc'd and probably have as much hair as you do but that's not going to stop me from wearing my spiral curly wig when it gets here. Your opinion and those of whom that are important to you matters the most.

Well I think there are two issues here...

1. Wearing your natural hair really shouldn't be "shocking". I mean, they have seen their own hair right? They are acquainted with it. No one's going to have a heart attack or anything. A new look is always going to invite comments from family members and friends but pretty soon the novelty wears off and the "new you" becomes the "same old you" from before. I wouldn't worry about it too much. If you think people are going to be downright mean or rude and you don't want to, or don't feel you can, handle the comments, then wear a wig and call it a day. No reason to be uncomfortable.

2. Now, if you want to uphold a hair illusion by continuing to wear your wig, then keep on wearing them. If it's a big deal to you that people think your wigs are real then go ahead and wear the wig. What matters is that you are happy with whatever you do. If you're worried that in the future there will be negative comments about your fake hair, then do what you can to avoid it. You have to be comfortable, so act accordingly.

Either way, I'm sure your hair is beautiful!
