I just recently started wearing phony ponys again just to keep the flatirons away and to get more cowashes in. About 17 yrs ago when I use to get them done, I would pull my wet hair in a ponytail. I've continued that practice and sometimes have alot of hair coming out while combing it up. Do you girls put your pony's in while your hair is wet or dry? Do your hair come out too? I'm open to all suggestions. I've also noticed that more hair come out when I poo/cond..oppose to cowashing and conditioning. Think that matters?

Also, I know when you manipulate wet hair you may get shed but, if there's a way to save some hairs, then let me in on it.

My hair breaks like crazy if I manipulate it while it's wet. I don't even apply my DC directly after shampooing I just wait until it dries to dampness. IMO, that much manipulation on your wet hair is not good. I'd suggest waiting until it was dry before throwing it into a ponytail HTH

I wet bun after cowashing and I dont have lots of hairs coming out. I do this carefully because hair is weaker when wet.

I would wait until my hair was dry or atleast almost dry before putting a phony pony on it. I wet bun without breakage BUT you have to think that phony ponies are putting extra weight on already weakened (by water) hair. So the added weight will inevitably cause breakage.

I air dry my hair lightly combed back, then put the pony on when dry. My hair doesn't like to be handled too much while wet.

ETA: Now that I am textlaxed, I keep wet manipulation to a minimum.
