Combing your hair

How do you comb your hair? Do you comb your hair so that it touches the scalp? OR, Do you just comb the hair and not the scalp?

It just seems like when I go to the salon,they comb the hair. I on the other hand, comb my hair and scalp

When I want to thoroughly detangle my hair I gently comb from the tips up and in sections and then after that I comb from scalp to tip (this is usually on wash days) but on a regular typical day---I don't comb my hair.

I start from the bottom (ie ends) and work up (ie scalp). Yes, my comb touches my scalp.

I just comb my hair. If it's time for a relaxer touchup, I feel like combing through the new growth to the scalp is painful and causes breakage.
