Does this make your hair red/red highlights. I'm looking for a nice brown and just bought a bottle of this and now I'm not so sure if I want to use it.

I wondered the same thing. I used Golden Walnut last week, and I actually love it. I was also looking for a brown, but not too dark since I already have highlights. The color is true to its description: a warm brown with golden highlights. If Ginger is red, you may wanna give Golden Walnut a try. HTH!

Yeah golden walnut was my next choice. That sounds like the color I'm looking for. I know someone did a colourshine in ginger and it looked beautiful. It didn't look red at all. I think it might have been kitchen tician.

Ginger is a red/gold. It will add red/gold highlights to already brown hair, but if you're looking to enrich the brown, I agree that Walnut is the better choice. :)

You could mix it with the Walnut. That would yield a GORGEOUS result! :) I think the Ginger user you're thinking of was JennfierMD. ;)

My natural hair is light brown (after being in the sun) and Ginger made it dark blond, so I'm guessing that you willl get a warm brown with Ginger.

I use redality, which leaves my hair RED, but you won't get highlights with it, unless you apply it like highlights.

DAGNABIT! I thought that place was expensive when I asked how much the Duldley's DRC and they said like $57!

I got mine for a regular bss and paid $20 for it. No more than $22

I used the ginger and it made my hair a slightly lighter brown with a hint of red highlights. The red was very subtle, though. I have pics in my album. It could be very pretty depending on what color your hair is before you add the ginger colourshine. I found mine at a Dominican BSS and I paid $17 for it.

Thanks Jasmine! Yes, I used the Colorshines in Ginger and it turned out well. I just added the new pics in my album. The results are a little deceiving, because certain sections are permanently colored with TNT Bronze. It's in my Feb '05 album: http://public.fotki.com/Kitchentician/

Thanks again, Tracy, Lindy, Kaddy and all the others who helped with advice. And thanks Atlien, for helping me locate the Colorshines. ;)

Looks great! your 13 week looks like my 3 week! LOL! You look gorgeous! I love the color, I may have to try this one also!

Thanks to everyone for responding. I'll have to think about the mixing. I think I'll have to take things slow since this is the first time I'm doing anything with color in the hair.

What if you naturally have red/orange streaks in your hair, will the ginger enhance my natural highlights?

Yes, it would enhance you natural highlights and most likely make them more pronounced.

I'm confused. Does this product make natural colors come out, or add color? I'm looking for something that makes my natural colors stand out without adding color. I want it to be my own.

It depends on what color you get. I believe Allandra uses a color that is similar to her natural color, so the main thing the color does is enhance her natural color and impart shine.

I use a color that is darker than my natural color so it adds color to my hair and darkens it.

Some ladies with highlights and lighter hair use colors that will add another color to their hair.

Hope this helps.

what exactly is colorshines? is it a shampoo? duh :wacky: sorry if this q is out there.... :ohwell:

It is not a shampoo. It is a semi-permanent (i think) color that you add after you shampoo. If you have ever used Jazzing colors it is similar to that process, except it adds better shine. You apply it, sit under the dryer for a while, then rinse and condition. (These are the abridged directions).

Are Colourshines better for your hair than regular box colors? I would like to update my color but my hair can't handle any added harsh chemicals, etc. Can anyone look at my album and tell me if I would best achieve a lighter shade of brown with the Ginger or the Walnut color? By the way, my color is a little more bright there than it is now...it's def. toned down some. I will have to update my fotki soon.
