If you color your hair does that mean clarifying is out of the question? For those that color what do you do about product build up?

I have highlights and occasionaly use rinses to change up my color, but I clarify. I can tell when my hair isn't holding it's moisture when I need to.

I use Suave daily clarifying shampoo.

I have permanent colour in my hair, and I do clarify and follow up with moisturising shampoo and conditioner. I didn't know you were not supposed to clarify when you colour?

When I had a semi-permanent rinse, I avoided clarifying until the color faded. I was afraid that the color would be stripped from my hair because a rinse only coats the hair. If I'm wrong I'd love to know because I made sure not to sue any products that'll cause build up so I could get away with not clarifying..

I have highlights a little lighter than my avatar, so i put a light reddish brown rinse to make it the color of my avatar. I used clarifying shampoo for my last shampoo and it just removed my rinse, but i'll just put another rinse in it to darken it back up. the CS didn't do anything to the permanent hair color, it just removed the semi-perm

I also use Suave daily CS

I have permanent highlights and I clarify as well. I'm not sure I understand about not clarifying when you have color. Could you explain a little more in detail?

(I use Suave clarifying shampoo as well)

Pureology has a clarifying shampoo that is supposed to
prevent color fading. I use it and it does not make my
hair feel stripped and overly dry. It also has a nice scent.

I just bought vo5 kiwi and lime shampoo. It is a clarifier and it says that it is safe for colored hair. When I would rinse my hair, I would clarify with my usual clarifing shampoo. To refresh my color, I would use just a little of the semi-pemanant rinse on soaking wet hair for just 3-5 minutes. I would do this following a lather of moisutrizing shampoo before I deep conditioned. This kept my color from fading and gave me a shine boost. I would only do this every 4-6 weeks.
