Okay I'll make this short, this is the 3rd time I've tried to type this up and I've been booted out:mad:. I got my hair relaxed last friday, I plan on getting partial hilites next friday (14 days). Is that enough time between a relaxer and color? Also the salon plans on using Biosilk color on my hair, anyone have any experience with this color? they said that it's very moisturizing. I know that my ends needs to be cut but I'm afraid of doing it at a salon for obvious reasons. Is it ok to get my hair trimmed prior to coloring it? Your advice is appreciated, TIA!

I'm not familiar with Biosilk color, but 14 days is the minimum amount of time to wait between relaxer and haircolor services. As far as getting your hair trimmed prior to coloring, I don't see why not.

I love color. It gives dimension to any ordinary style. 14 days is usually enough time. Please remember to give yourself hot oil treatments and use products made for color treated hair (it does make a difference in preserving the color ) -Never used biosilk color. I'm a Clairol textures and tones honey or lightest blonde user. trimming before color is fine. You wouldn't want to wait till after (might cut the color right out if it's only highlites)

Good luck.

ok when i saw this post i thought: "we're mostly black here why is she calling out the "colored" girls?" i know i know i'm slow at times. but to answer your questions: yes 14 days is enough times, yes to the trim, no matter how moisturizing the color is it will still dry your hair so you need to really stay on top of your moisturizing regimen. good luck!

THanks for the tips! DO you recommend any specific products for deep treatments?

roux porosity control after you color is the truth.

Delightful, I used some immediately after my relaxer and I think it help cut down on the shedding a whole lot. I washed and aphogeed yesterday and I noticed that again I didn't lose several large handfuls of hair.

I would give it some more time maybe another two weeks. I've done the color thing within that time frame after a relaxer and it was not pretty. My hair broke off quite badly and I had my color done professionally. I have always taken good care of my hair, but I guess that was just too much too soon. Of course, everyone is different, but what's an extra couple of weeks if it will save you heartache and hair? :look:

I'll take that into consideration. I figured it wouldn't be a problem since I'm not relaxed bone straigth and I did an Aphogee treatment yesterday and I plan on doing 2 more protein treatments before I get this done. I'm hoping that upping my protein levels will help cut the damage.
