:( I tried coloring my hair this weekend and it turned out a mess for starters my hair feels like straw and to top that off the color makes me look goth. Ladies, would it be ok if I recolored my hair this weekend with maybe a neutral brown. :)

Being that it is permanent color I wouldn't recommend doing another color at home. That's just me being cautious. Now there are products that are designed to remove permanent color from the hair (Clairol's UnColor), but I have only used the one for semi-permanent color. I would recommend going to a stylist (one who specializes in coloring) to correct the issue. I am sure that you could re-color your hair, BUT I don't know how soon you are able to do this. I will see if I can find more information for you.

Too Dark Color Solution

"My new color is too dark. What do I do?"

Simply wait a couple of weeks and see if (a) the excess color fades, or (b) you get used to the new color. (Sometimes new hair color is so intense and, well, "new" that people perceive it as too dark, when in fact, it's just more saturated.) In either case, you're set. If not, just wait until you're ready for your next touch-up, probably four weeks. Use the same brand, just a shade or two lighter.

Correcting Too Dark Color

Don't panic: During the first week after coloring, hair usually lightens a bit, especially after a few shampoos; this is particularly true of coarse and damaged hair. If you've used permanent color and you just can't live with it, a colorist can use a color remover to lighten your hair. (There are color removers available in drugstores, but this process is best left to the pros.) However, this should be your last resort -- you'll risk further damage and a brassy look, and you'll probably have to dye it yet again. If you've used a gentle semipermanent, just keep shampooing; eventually, most of it will come out.

To keep your hair from getting too dark when coloring at home, choose a product that's a shade or two lighter than the one you think you want, especially if you have coarse, damaged or thin hair -- these all absorb more dye than other types. A deep conditioning before you color also can help. Color builds up, too -- even semipermanents -- so when you do touch-ups, don't let the product stay on the ends of your hair too long. And always do a strand test to get the timing right.

rewash and deep condition.

that will help some of the color release and condition your hair at the same time!!

try a conditoner that will correct your ph like ensure or something.

i would definitely deep condition at least 2x this week!!

There used to be a girl on this forum who was a colorexpert, i forgot her name. But I had a similar problem, dyed my hair tooooo dark and she suggested Metalex. God only knows this stuff WORKSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. You can see the color washing down the drain.

But I'm wondering, if this only works for rinses? Give it a try anyhow, it's by Clariol.

I have used this too. It did work to lighten the color. I would do some deep conditioning as well. Also, remember hair is usually rougher after perm color. Good luck !

This one is for semi-permanent color I believe. The Uncolor by Clairol has a liquid formula for semi-permanent and a powder formula that you must mix that will remove permanent color. I would be careful with this as well.

Here is the link to it: http://www.sallybeauty.com/shop/1490/320931
