THIS has made suchhh a difference since i added it to my regime (10 days ago) breakage is NILL, my hair is so moisturized thats its OILY - even the ends (i used to have the dryest hair ever, so to me this is incredibly good) the hair shine is blinding, and basically my hair feels more springy and much healthier. i did this after rinsing out my conditioner with lukwarm water... i just thought i'd remind u guys of this simple, often forgotten about part of washing hair, cuz the difference (if u can handle the cold for a bit!) is amazziiinngg!!! My m um actually used to do this to me when i was a child..i thought she was being creul!

I use cold water to rinse out my deep condition so definitly agree with you.

Though I would like to do cold water rinses all the time, mentally I just can't handle it. So I stick to tepid water at other times.

I was doing this last year for a few washes. I'm still shivering too!
It does make a big difference and maybe I'll try this again. Thanks for the reminder.;)

LOL @ still shivering...yeh it kinda makes you not be able to breathe! ahh the things we do for the health of our hair eh!

It does make a difference. I slowly turn to water from super hot (the hotter the shower the better) to cooler and cooler during the shower. When it's time ot rinse out the conditioner, I step waaayy back so the shower head only hits my head (and not the rest of me) and turn it full force to cold.

LLOL thats what i do too!its not that bad when udo it that way. may i add that my dry scalp seems happy too!

I find cold water rinses make my hair a lot smoother after washing. It's supposed to seal the cuticle and stimulate the scalp too.

But a few days this winter, it's just been too cold to do it so I've skipped it because I can't handle the cold!

oooh stimulating the scalp...sounds good to me!

winters lasted forever over here dont you think? spring soon come!

I guess its the simple things that make sucha difference..thats what i;ve noticed anyway...all the elaborate things we do to our hair, keepin it basic is like keepin it REAL with the hair

I used to do this as well... Got brain freeze, literally. I will try to work it back in because I did notice the benefits. I also liked to use distilled water, and it would be room temperature, which is a bit on the chilly side in the winter.

There is another thread about this. I used to do this in the summertime. My hair loved it, but I didn't. I don't like cold water chills.

My mother used to do this to my hair too back in the day, and I've carried it for years since I started doing my own hair. I always end up running out of the shower though afterwards, it's hard for me to stand the chill!!

Yeah. You think it's coming to an end in February then it starts snowing in March!
Oh my god, how do ya'll handle it??? It was 80 degrees here a couple days ago. I was lovin' it!!!

I think people are just used to it. It's not really cold, like some places in Canada or anything like that. The snow doesn't tend to get very deep, or last very long. It does rain a lot though.
As a result, when it's even slightly warm here people tend to really take advantage of it... innapropriate clothing, flesh on display everywhere etc. It is quite funny when people don't check the weather forecast in the morning, and it's sunny so they're out in sandals or flip flops, then later it starts to rain and their feet get soaked :lachen:

I have a question....if u rinse in cold water would that prevent your leave in conditioner from penetrating the shaft since it seals the cuticle?

Leslie. I think they shampoo, condition, rinse and then do a quick rinse afterwards which would sorta "seal the conditioner within the hair shaft".

It supposedly seals in the conditioner, whereas w/ warm water, the cuticle stays open and rinses out the con

Hi leslie, when i apply my leave in con, it actually does a better job after the cold water rinse, seen as the deep con is kinda kept inside my hair, the leave in conditions the surface etc.

that makes sense, thanks! Ill start trying that...

I actually tried this last night after deep conditioning with Nexxus Humectress and I hardly had any shedding. I think I'm going to continue doing it and see what happens,

LOL This is exactly what I do!! And it is proven to seal the cuticle.

I was just about to start a new thread on this . . . I'm so glad I did a search first. I am gonna try this now. I'll let you ladies know how it turns out. I'm hoping for a smoother twistout. :)

I tried this for the first time on Saturday, my hair had never felt smoother or softer. It's so shiny it looks like polished glass. Luckly for me, I have a detachable shower head, so I can use freezing cold water...and it's totally worth it. Who knew something so simple could make suck a big difference?
