CLARIFY W/EVERY WASH? Does anyone else hair require frequent clarifying?

I have 4a/b ever so slightly texturized hair. No mater what state (relaxed, natural, texturizer) it's always very dry. Since coming to LHCF I've been experimenting to discover what works for my hair. I'm finding my hair prefers I clarify with EVERY shampoo followed up with a moisturizer shampoo. Once my hair is styled it's not nearly as dry. Anyone else hair requires frequent clarifying washes?

My hair likes to be clean too. I just washed a couple of days ago and my scalp is already really dirty. I do like to use a gentle deep cleansing poo first when I wash. If I don't, I get the itches and dry scalp in no time.

Since I'm on the "dirty challange" (only washing every two weeks), I will be clarifying my hair with every shampoo & following with a moisturizing shampoo.

I have to do this too, but I use NTM, which has a lot of cones. I am hoping to find another moisturizing shampoo and conditioner, so that maybe I won't have to clarify so much.

ME! ME! ME!

But, for me it is not just for a clean slate. I have mineral deposits or something in my water. I cannot just simply use any clarifying shampoo/agent either. ACV rinses? My hair and water laugh at that crap.

I have to use something demineralising like Redken Cleansing cream or kenra clarifying EVERYTIME. Otherwise, after the 2nd or 3rd shampoo, my hair gets dry, reddish brown looking, and breaks.

Im with you , girl, I have a 3b/c texture and the same problem. If my hair isnt really clean it gets dry ,, esp if i use cones,, try to use less cones if you are using them. My hair is softest right after a wash,, oil and all my hair does best usually when its clean, not squeaky clean but not weighed down...

I shampoo 1-2 times a week and clarify each time followed by a moisturizing shampoo and NTM hair mask (although right now I'm trying out the Cherry Bark co from Aurora and I likey! This will most likely replace NTM.)

my hair doesn't. i clarify every 2 weeks and that's enough. My clarifying shampoo really dries my hair out and i don't think my hair could handle it on a bi-weekly basis.

MEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I clarify every time I wash, which is once a week. This is due to the fact that I get major buildup if I don't...buildup from dandruff, sweating from working out and dry/flaky scalp.

I feel like the clarifying process "opens my hair up to receive moisture".

I use Avdea detoxifier to clarify with.

I need something good to clarify my scalp with but I don't want to clarify my "hair" - because it dries my hair strands out. When I clarify (once a month) I usually just shampoo several times. I've used a clarifying shampoo by Nuetrogena (spelling) and it works on my scalp but really dried out my color treated hair (not good at all).

Also for those with a LOT of build up, my hair buddy swears by shampooing after her deep conditioner. She says it really works for her and she uses a moisturizing shampoo after her deep conditioner then she puts on her heat protectant to blow dry.

I'm a 4a natural and I notice that my hair doesn't get tangled when washing until I put conditioner on it. (weird)

interesting... since i've been using more natural products, I dont have to clarify as much. but even when I do clarify, I only do it once every 4-6 weeks. and when I do, I have to follow it with a moisturizing shampoo & con. if not, my hair will be dry.

I pre poo w/ olive oil every time I shampoo (not co wash) So, yes, I use a clarifying shampoo, concentrating the poo on my scalp only, because my scalp gets junky quickly. Then I follow up w/ a moist. shampoo and deep conditioner.

If I don't use a clarifying poo on my scalp at least once a week, I have the itchy gitchy ya yas, and I like my scalp to be clean:D

I Cowash everyother day and prepoo/poo on sundays. So like once a week on wednesdays i clarify and just follow up with a deep conditioning or if im going to do a protein i due it on that day because it takes better and actually works on my hair.

:lachen: :lachen: :lachen:

I have been so busy lately, my hair is screaming to washed, and the itchy gitchy ya yas are creepin' in!

Since I mostly wash my hair every two weeks, I clarify on the first wash then follow up with another shampoo (moisturizing)...no problems so far.

As of late, I do clarify every time as I am on the hunt to figure out what my holy grail is because this damage is seriously going to send me over the edge!:drowning:

I can not say if it is good or bad, I just feel like I should so I can see what each shampoo/conditioner combo are doing for my hair. No relief as of yet, but I will keep on my search.

Yeah I have the same problem. I use NTM Active Soothing Shampoo (Dandruff), then I use Elucence MB Shampoo. My hair seems to like that better.

I try to clarify once a month, but I always end up doing it once a week. I use NTM leave-in daily and I think that's why. I just purchased one of the Qhemet products (the heavy cream one) and I'm going to try that for a while to see if it results in less clarifying for me.

Your siggy made me spit out my oatmeal!

I had to stop using clarifying shampoos because I hated how they made my hair feel so stripped. I do an ACV rinse with my weekly wash because it helps the conditioner take better.
