I was wondering . . . is cholesterol considered to be more like a protien conditioner or a moisturizing one?

I would sat protein, because it's just too strong for moisturizing. Do a search and get other ladies' feedback and experience, you may be overwhelmed, though! There is a looooot of threads on the topic, be prepared to spend some time reading and taking notes!!

IMO, most cholesterol are moisturizing conditioners. There may be some formulations out there with protein, but generally, they are moisturizing. I've used Queen Helene, LeKlair, Africa's Best, etc. and they all pretty much formulated as moisturizing conditioners. Just check the ingredients. For example, Africa's Best Cholesterol Tea-Tree Oil Hair Conditioner is not a protein and has the following ingredients:

Water , Cetyl Alcohol , Stearyl Alcohol , Stearalkonium Chloride , Glycerin , Cholesterol , Soybean Oil , Lanolin Oil , Tea Tree Oil , Methyl Paraben , Propyl Paraben , Polyquaternium-37 , Propylene Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate , PPG-1 Trideceth-6 , Dmdm Hydantoin , Fragrance , FD&C Red #4 , D&C Yellow #5

Now i'm reviewing the ingredients, doesn't appear to have a drop of protein . . .

I just thought about that cholesterol doesn't have protein in it, just fat I guess.

I think its moisturizing, even if it has protein its down on the list so its a small amount. Many regular hair products used daily have some protein in them, but they arent considered protein treatments....some that come to mind are profectivs products, suave and vo5 conditioners, many leave ins, etc.
but for me I need to add in some stuff to doctor it up and it makes it much more affective. I add EVOO, honey, and/or coconut milk...

I actually find them moisturizing. I'm someone whose hair absolutely HATES protein conditioners. Cholesterols always leave my hair super soft and easy to detangle. Protein conditioners usually leave my hair dry and crunchy feeling.
