Ok, so I'm new to this site and new to healthy hair care practices. Every forum that I have come accross has really helped me out so far. So now, I need some serious help! I'm trying to grow my hair to about bra strap length. Right now It's a little past my ears, but it's in the best shape it has EVER been in. It's shiny, bouncy, healthy, and DARK!!!! I'm like a milk chocolate complexion and my hair is like...dark, dark brown...almost black. I really want to lighten up my face, but I don't know what colors to choose (I think I have a complex) I also want my hair to continue to grow.

I want to try some lighter highlights (maybe 2 or three in total), but I'm a little scared. And I also want to make sure that even though my hair is color treated...that it will still continue to grow.

Does anyone have any experiences or suggestions for me????? Thanks!!!!!

I also don't know how to put my pic up in my Avatar....

Welcome jjenni!!! First off I want to wish you the best in your hair care journey :) Your hair will still grow even if you decide to dye it, but you have to take extreme care of it since it is a chemical process. I would suggest maybe doing some research on a henna and see if that is something that would interest you. Although I haven't used it there are ladies on this board that have great results with it. Also, instead of doing your entire head have you thought about getting highlights? Just a few suggestions. Are you currently relaxed jjenna?

Bre from Top Model is in a haircolor commercial for Garnier. Her color is fabulous. I'd add a picture, but I can't find one yet.

This is the best photo I could find.

Thank you to everyone who has replied with your ideas!!! I really appreciate it!

Aquajoyice - I am actually leaning towards highlights instead of coloring my entire head. And thank you sooo much for the welcome. I did hear that henna color was healthier than regular hair dyes.

I think the reddish/brown family has it. I didn't even think about that. I was thinking honey's and caramel's if I were to do highlights, but reddish browns I think would suit my undertone and skin color better. According to one of these sites I googled...I seem to be in the "warm" undertone family.

Nightngale - the color looks good in the pic you attached, I think I'm going to google that pic too.

Thanks again!!!!
