I am surprised she uses petroleum jelly as her C or cream option. It definitely works for her.

I don't think I am going to try it though. The greasiness of it scares me.

She suggested unpetroleum jelly at some point, I think, but I would think "C" would be an actual cream. She can't do any wrong in my eyes though because her advice has been on point for my hair so far..

In the video she states her C is the petroleum jelly. She also states the reason why she started using it so I understand.

The C is an emulsified product so I am not sure if this would fall into that.

It definitely works for her.

I can't see the video. What does she shampoo with?

I think for the "C" step you can use anything that is really heavy.

I do recall her mentioning unpetroleum jelly in one of her previous emails.

I have tried using unpetroleum but I'm too heavy handed and my low po hair gets mad at me. But I think my hair feels better when I use something that heavy. I haven't found an oil or a cream to beat it. I just can't stand the greasy feeling. Maybe I will master it one day.

Chicoro has been using petroleum jelly for YEARS now, I remember her using it back in 05. Her reasoning is solid, and more than anything else, she proves that it can work. There are old threads with Vaseline/Petroleum Jelly challenges, check them out.

I thought the C was any product that isn't water based. SMH is this why I could never get this right. I saw some unpetroluem jelly on Amazon but was scared to try it.

It is a sealing video so she doesn't mention shampoo. She uses Aloe juice for her liquid, olive oil for the oil, and petroleum jelly for the last part. She does say she is not sure if it would be considered an emulsified product.

She describes an emulsified product as one with water and oil and an emulsifier (she names wax, butter and Arabic gum as examples).

I don't like butters on my hair because it is so greasy so will not be trying this .

I do love the LOC method. It works spectacularly well (I can go a week with re-moisturizing) for me so very grateful to her for researching and sharing it. She seems like an awesome person too.

It is the opposite. It is a water based product. The layers are based on the evaporation rates.

i just tried this method after my wash and DC...and wow! my hair looks and feels amazing! if there is a challenge, i am down!

@CHI10, what products did you use?

in a spray bottle..i mixed aloe vera jelly, evoo, and water together...i saurated my hair with that...then i smoothed on some beautiful textures moisture butter..then sealed the ends with vaseline:lick::lick:

I finally watched the video. She really is just doing what most ladies who do the LOC on here are doing. So it really isn't any different. And she isn't using the petroleum jelly on the length of her hair, just the ends. So she does an LO on the her strands and a "C" on her ends.

So I will stick with the creams for my "C" step for now. I may try using grease on my ends. Grease tends to be a bit lighter than straight unpetroleum or petroleum jelly.

There was a seven day challenge on the forum to seal with petroleum jelly for one week. Yes, it worked. I would have continued, but found it much too heavy for twists with added hair.
