So I went to the Taste of Chicago yesterday to see Slick Rick, Rob Base, Doug E. Fresh, Salt n Pepa and Bel Biv Devoe. I think I'm gonna get a good concert, but what do I get instead? A SEA of long relaxed hair and beautiful natural curls! There were a more than a few WL sistas out there. Now I know who is buying up all the Skala and making "juice" prices double! I rarely see any Chicagoans post on here so I thought I was basically out here by myself. NOPE. I should have known yall were just cheap, but then again you are from Chicago...

But thanks for the hair show yesterday! :drunk:

Thanks so much! I am going to get up there in the next couple of days then!!

Sorry off topic, I know you are right I also love to go hair watching at events like that! I have never met a member of this board but once I met a member of another board it was really fun.

Me and my dd is going but not sure which day we are going though. No offense to anyone but when I go I usually see a head full of weave.. Not that it look cute either... Maybe we have some nikko cousins that will be attending this year....

I had the same experience when I saw Chaka Khan at the Petrillo Music a couple years back. I hardly paid any attention to the stage.

I couldn't do yesterday's concert... I'm still having nightmares about Cross Colors..:lachen::lachen::lachen:

Yeah, I stopped by during my lunch break yesterday. I'm gonna do a "Missed Connection" type of thing right now... :giggle:

I saw someone with a gorgeous, thick, black, BSLIsh ponytail at the Taste, around 12:30pm. You were with an older woman, with a chin length or neck length bob. You were wearing sunglasses, I think they were brown. I don't know if you were relaxed or pressed but your ends looked perfect too! Whoever you were, your hair is GORGEOUS! :yep::yep::yep:

I was out of town, but had I been here I woulda been at that concert. Saw Doug E Fresh, Slick Rick and SNP earlier this year and you would have thought they were still current the way they put it down and the crowd was acting.

Oh yea, hair - Lots of beautiful heads in Chi. Lots of naturals in Chi too. Some stylists refuse to even do relaxers. They focus only on natural hair.

Hey PBEs, can you suggest some stylist/salons that focus on natural hair in Chicago? I've had no luck with those I've tried out. One nearly scalped me, setting me back a whole year :perplexed....but it's growing back nicely :grin:

I haven't been in years and it doesn't look like I'll make it this year. But hopefully, next year, I'll be one of the tressed-haired beauties.

I went over lunch, and I can't say I saw beautiful heads of hair. I did see purple and platinum SHAM weave...with clothes to match, BUT, my brother swears chicks that dress like that in Chi are visiting from Milwaukee. lol.

My 19 year old daughter was there.

She has very very thick, a little past APL hair. Her hair is black, and she wraps it.

Y'all might have seen her. She's been down there most of today.

Her hair is so thick and beautiful that people always think she's wearing a wig or weave.

She's been learning from me.:yep:

:hide:I was hoping to go to Taste this year but I don't know if I will make it. It's a great place to check out Summer fashion & hair. My co-worker said the Rob Base, Slick Rick, and Salt&Pepa concert was Da Bomb. I was busy working so I didn't make it.
