Healthy Hair Quest..
Which of these are better and why?

Also, if you have used other brands that is just as good or, in your opinion, better; please list them here.

Links and prices would be helpful.

Thanks in advance!

I don't think it's that no one uses these ceramics, I think it's because of how you phrased the question.

You are asking for a comparison from a person who has used them both. I am not sure if you will find a lot of persons in that category. Personally I own the FHI and I love it because it always leaves my hair looking silky and it is quite sturdy. I also don't really need to use it on very high heat to get my hair looking great.

There are also lots of threads on this topic, so see if you can do a search. That may help you also.

Also, since I have never used the CHI I cannot say which is better.

I've never used an FHI. I have used a CHI and I have a Sedu Ionic Ceramic/Tourmaline Flat Iron.. and I definetly say that the Sedu is way better. It also got the best reviews of any flat iron at folica.com, which heavily influenced my decision to buy it. I got the 1" which cost $98.95, but you can also get the 1.5" for $105.95.

I currently own a CHI Turbo 3" and I love it. I can adjust the heat by temperature. I paid around $200 for it. I used to own a Babyliss, which I liked but it broke and there was no heat adjustment and then I tried Gold n' Hot but I can't remember why I didn't care for theirs.

I have tried both the CHI and the FHI and in choosing between the two...I would go with the FHI...the CHI snagged my hair too much, but then, so did the FHI, but not as much as the CHI. So then I turned my attention to the SEDU on the Folica.com website and decided after all of the positive reviews, to go ahead and purchase one, and I must say, I haven't thought about another ceramic flat iron yet.

My SEDU is absolutely wonderful. The tourmaline/ceramic combination just leaves the hair soft and silky without really having to apply any serum to control flyaways that otherwise may still appear with other ceramic irons. I noticed before I even tried the SEDU on my hair, in looking at the plates of this particular iron, that it would give me a different look, and most of all, I'm not loosing any hair because it doesn't snag one strand because of the design and the smooth plates.

You may want to check out the SEDU on the Folica website before investing so much money in the CHI and FHI.

*highfive*!

I haven't tried either, actually, but my daughter got the FHI from her Dad for X-mas and she says it works great. She was using Conair and Hot Tools before the FHI... :look:

I'm sure this didn't help you, but thanks for starting this thread. When she got the FHI (she had asked for the CHI) I was wondering what the difference between the two is...

Thanks ladies!

I apologize for not being a little clearer, I find I'm not really good with words unless I think about it for a good long while. :dork:

I basically wanted to know what was good about both the CHI and FHI as well as what other irons had worked for you guys. I had been contemplating on purchasing a cheaper one($25-40) however, as I get older I'm aiming at getting the most for my money because most times you get what you pay for.

Thanks again!

I have a FHI too..It's awesome..and has never snagged my hair.. I don't really use it anymore.. heat seems to ruin my natural curls.. but when I was relaxed/transitioning.. it was DA BOMB!!!:) Soft, silky hair!

I never used a CHI but I have a FHI and I love it. It makes my hair silky and it does a great job of straighting out my new growth. I got mine from ebay for about $59.

The Sedu doesn't snag my hair and always leaves it silky. It doesnt get too hot or smoke when I use it. I always get a silky smooth finish. It also allows me to get very close to my roots to straighten my new growth. :)

I started using the FHI because that's what they used in the salon I went to. I have virgin hair and I was very skeptical that this flat iron would work. But my hair was sooo smooth and silky, I had to keep asking my stylist if she gave me a relaxer on the dl! (did i just use d??? LOL) I use the iron with the adjustable temp. it goes up to 450. I had the one that just had the on and off switch, but it didn't get my hair as straight. I'm all about the FHI!!!!

ps...a friend of mine told me that FHI and CHI are sister products.
