I know, I know I know there are a million threads on Henna most of which are 12-49 pages long! I tried to find my answer in those pages but I have not been able toooooo. . .

Can I go from brownish black gray hair to chestnut bronze/brown using Henna?

What's the mix?

Hi,

Remember that henna does NOT lift the color from your hair. So if your hair is black, I can't see henna doing the trick.

You would have to bleach the color out and then deposit color. I have black hair and I use a henna/indigo combination that only makes my hair look...well...black. My grays are a brown, and my hair in the sun is a dk. cocoa.

I'm not sure that I would try bleach, though, esp. if your hair is relaxed.

Good luck & HHG!!

At 9pm I mixed 3:1 Jamila henna to amla, lemon juice, jojoba oil and tea in a plastic container seal it shut with the lid. I am going to attempt to cover a small area of gray. I don't want the gray to turn orange. I will clarifiy today and apply the mixture, I am hoping for brown that will look like highlites. any opinions? The henna will be about 18 hours old when I apply it.

The amla/henna may help make your hair darker, but you won't get anykind of brown/bronze color from the henna. The gray will turn reddish.
