Um.... How are you supposed to do spiral curls with this?

does anybody use a ceramic curling iron? if so which ones are best? I have seen some from conair and revlon and was unsure of which one was best.
thanks.

Actually the ones that are supposed to be the best are CHI, FHI and HAI. I have the FHI and it's AWESOME!! For one that is less expensive there is one that I hear is good.. I don't remember the exact name of who it's by but it starts with a "J" Jibere or something like that.. I hear that one is really good.

HTH

I do all kinds of curls with my jilbere flat iron (i like how it straightens, but the felt covering falls off when hot and the glue gets exposed, so I'm looking for something else now)
the trick is to straigthen your hair in a curling motion - i don't know how best to explain it. basically, as you're gliding the iron through your hair, you kind of turn it (the iron) in the direction that you want the curl to form. HTH!

I love my CHI!!!

I just got it today. I ordered it off of eBay. I tested a small portion of my hair as my new growth is almost 6 months worth. I'm waiting for my hairdresser to get back from the Dominican Republic mid-April. This is definitely the top of the line of ceramic irons. It just glided through my hair, no snagging or dragging. Lovely!!!

I don't have the CHI but I have the FHI which is just like it and the more expensive ones are well worth the money!!! Glad you like your new CHI!!

DO NOT GET A CONAIR!

That thing is sorry. I found it at Walmart and I was like, Ooooo, $14.72! I'll get it!!! It's a piece of junk. And the bad thing is, I didn't realize it at first. I used it to bump the ends of hair that was already salon straightened with a CHI, so it worked. But when I went to straighten my freshly washed hair, I had to do each section like 10 times and it still wasn't straight. I'm going to invest in a CHI or HAI soon...

ThickNBeautiful - I'm so glad I decided not to get a Conair! When I found out they were just ceramic "coated," I figured I should go for a more expensive brand. Though, I do have the curling iron and it's decent for the price. Anyways, I decided to go in the middle and get the Jilbere from Sally's. I have 90 days to try it out and if I decide it's not good enough, I will be returning it for a higher end model.

Hi Hairlove,

Did you try it out yet? How did you like it? I have thick 4a/b hair, and some of it is underprocessed. When I straighten (not often) I really need to straighten. I might just end up getting a CHI or something.

I have a CHI and it's my best hair purchase ever. My mom has the Conair and it's a piece of crap, didn't do a damn thing to straighten her hair. CHI all the way baybee!

At first I was unsure whether I would want to fork over the money for the more expensive ones, but after doing research I came to the decision that I should get the CHI. It was well worth the investment... I have the one inch... CHI Turbo Flat Iron Info Here is one of the Jilbere reviews that I was able to find on the web. I think this was written by someone with curly, frizzy hair. She also did a write up on the CHI... Jilbere Review w/Link to CHI review Be careful because Jilbere and Conair seem to intertwined somehow. I read somewhere on the web that the Conair Pro flatirons were formerly Jilbere. Some were for sale here... Conair Pro formerly Jilbere Oh my goodness!

I didn't even read the CHI reviews on Makeup Alley! I'm glad I did the investment because it got a lot of good reviews... Makeup Alley CHI reviews Alright.. I don't want to drown you guys in links....

Good Information AJD!!! I read a lot of reviews, too! I was so ready to click and order the CHI but the ONLY reason I didn't is b/c of Sally's return policy. But you can bet if I don't like the Jilbere, I'll be returning it for the CHI. I once talked to someone at an Ulta store and asked if the more expensive flat irons were really worth and she said yes. She mentioned that one of the stylists at their salon used it on her "coarse" hair and it worked really well. I think she was referring to a flat iron brand called Rusk (i think).

Does anyone take their ceramic iron to the shop and have the stylist use it insead of a marcel iron?

My last stylist had her own CHI iron. I won't be back to her due to the fact that I was in there for 7 hours (for a touch up, blow dry, and curl). If I go to another stylist, I am definitely going to find out what they use and if they don't use a ceramic iron I will not be going.
