Hi all, I just went to her site and noticed that she is having a FREE lecture at Heuman(sp?) book store in Harlem. If I get time off I will definately go! I was thinking, even if I don't get there that it would be a great opportunity for those trying to grow our hair longer to meet! Plus hopefully, if Miss Howses' attitude is in check, she might serve as hair inspiration for us!

Yeah, she had one of these in Tennessee last year. I went but she didn't say anything more than what was in her book. It has been such a long time since the seminar, I can't remember what ?"s I asked her. I do remember however, that she shot down almost all of my ?'s. I think I asked her something like, "Does exercise help in scalp stimulation?" "Do vitamins help in hair growth?" All of my questions she answered with, "These things are not required." I understood that much because hair grows regardless. But she made it sound like her methods are the ONLY ones that are tried and true. She sounds like alot of hair gurus that think their methods are the only ones that work...She also mentioned Aphogee for hair breakage. That is all I can remember. She is pretty much set in HER OWN ways about hair care. She has long hair, but IMO, it is not very healthy looking and is EXTREMELY uneven. Not that uneven is bad but when you have a few long pieces hanging down to show 'length', I see no point of having it.

How was her styled for the lecture? From your description, I'm imagining an updo with tendrils hanging down...

i though i was the only one.
i'm not trying to be rude but, i just read her book and i did'nt come away with anything new. everything in that book is just common sense and she does'nt go into much detail just like andre's book.
her hair does not look like it is in it's optimum health and neither does that grow afrohair long woman either. i've seen a lot of ladies with much healthier looking hair on this board.

Actually, her hair was down, believe it or not, no updo.

She had what "looked like" a dominican blowout but was not bent or curled under on the ends. Just kind of hanging "straight". She had this one long piece hanging on her right side, coming in front onto her chest. It was about 3" wide, and came about breast level, while the rest that was hanging but was about 3" shorter than that one piece.

I was like, "alrighty then." Now I don't know about you all, but if my hair were that uneven, I would have cut it off so fast it would have made my head spin.

But that's just me.
