Wow, she really is "going natural"....

I'd like to follow her transitioning progress

All I can say is that when I read how she's wearing her hair now I visualized a 35 + year old women wearing pigtails, ponytails, and plaits in a scrunchie and it was not cute!! Or age appropriate to me.

It also sounds like she is having personal health issues. Maybe that's the real reason she's going natural.

DMarie...I am 35+ and I wear my hair in pigtails and ponytails when I am out running my errands. I don't think that it's a matter of being age appropriate I think it's a matter where you are going or what you are doing. I wouldn't wear them to work. It's all in how you present yourself.

so is she going to refute or disregard all of her previous haircare advice that had to do with relaxers?

Thank you blkmaryland for saying this. ;)

Perhaps I didn't mean the ponytail part (given one has enough hair to make a full one that hangs). But pigtails, to me, implies child like ponytails with the hair plaited to the end or twisted (that's the visual I got). And I don't think it's cute on older women, especially those who just pull it back and it's sooo flat and thin and short.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh thank you for saying that! LOL! I'm like cats kick it to me when I rock my pigtails and my lil baseball cap or lil sporty hat in the summertime...

I can't wait until she updates her pictures. I want to see her with natural hair. I can agree with some of the things that she is saying about chemicals..Continued exposure to chemicals might lead to something deadly in the future. I might go natural when I am older and married :lachen: ...But for right now I have to relax....

I wore pigtails with a zigsag part and pinned up so that the double up fat tails were hanging on my neck at Christmas, and the men were definitely interested. In fact I wear them like that quite often and get lots of compliments because it is so simple and chic looking. This will always be a staple for me. My mama wore it and my grandma too. It just suits. If you have a beautiful smooth complexion and your hair has a healthy shine, not greasy, it looks great. Oh and I am natural. Bonjour.

WOW!!
she was the one who got me started on this journey.
I wonder if she will go the the BC??

Same here, Xena! Cathy Howse's book was the first book I ever read on how to take care of my hair. It was several months, maybe a year even, later before I started looking online for hair info. I never thought I would actually stumble upon a hair forum! Wow! I have gained so much wonderful information . . . words simply cannot express! Anyway, I digress.

I think Ms. Howse is a member of this site. She has to be. You simply cannot be on top of your hair game if you're not, right? :look:

Me, too! I wonder if she (and other authors) visit hair sites, boards and groups, including, this one. If so, I'm curious if the info that was obtained has been, or will be, used in their materials.
