Castor Oil +New Growth

I know alot of you ladies use castor oil for both softening new growth and protecting the scalp...does the presence of the castor oil on the hair retard the relaxing process?

I don't know about the actual process, but I tried using castor oil on my new growth for two weeks leading up to relaxing, and it'd make my scalp itch like crazy! I had to stop.

I use Castor Oil to soften my newgrowth and I use it before my relaxer and I had no problems and my relaxer turn out great and I dont relax bone straight.
