How much Carrot Juice do you have to drink a day to get results?

I have read that people drink anywhere from 2 to 8 oz. I then read where the least that you need is 2, so that's what I've been doing and it is definitely working for me. I started at 4 and saw results and dropped down to 2 to see if it still worked and it did. So, I'll stick to 2 cuz I dont' like the taste and I mix it with 8 oz of OJ.

What type of results are we talking about?

Mrslee and Lamlove121, I too have learned that 2 ounces of pure, 100% carrot juice is very effective, mainly because it goes directly into the bloodstream. Although my hair is naturally thick, I've found carrot juice thickens it more. Many of the ladies loved the way their skin improved also. Here is one link on the Carrot Juice Challenge:

Exactly! I was talking about thickness also.

I did the carrot juice thing last spring and had MAJOR results. I had braids, which I usually keep in for 3 months. When I was drinking the carrot juice my braids only lasted for 6 weeks before I had to have them taken out because they were too loose (from all the new growth). I wasn't really convinced that it was the carrot juice that was giving me these benefits, so I stopped drinking it...and sure enough my growth slowed down noticably. I recently started drinking it again. The only problem is that my husband LOVES the stuff and insists on guzzling it like water. That's pretty irritating since it's rather expensive (Odwalla brand).

is carrot juice more effective that raw carrots?

Yea, pretty much because most of it gets absorbed more better. I use the 1lb bag of REGULAR size carrots to get about 8ozs and the 2lb bag for 16oz, of the two the latter is what I juice daily. I was using baby carrots for about two days when I went to the book store and looked over some juicing books that said that baby carrots aren't suited for juicing because most of the time they are peeled and the nutrients have also been peeled away. Then, I got into conversation with some people in the aisle that juice and they said the same thing so I was glad that I only juiced with baby carrots for 1 day. The other bag I brought is still sitting in the fridge. The best way to go is organic so I am content with paying abotu thirty dollars a month for fresh carrots and not something that has been processed plus I've got used to juicing. I went and got me a juicer from WaL-Mart that costed about thirty dollars. This will due me until I am able to get a Jack DeLane one. Plus, it doesn't take that long for I can juice and do cleanup in ten minutes, at least now I can.

Finally, I do juicing for the overall health benefits. I've noticed my hair is thicker but can't really decide what exactly it might be because I take other supplements. My skin is clear and glowing even though I haven't been using any topical for it. My eyes are sharp as a knife in the dark. I don't feel like carrot juice has made me gained weight because I've been doing it since late December and I am still the same size. I usually juice before I go to bed which ends up holding off my late night cravings. HTH!

What a great testimonial, Phoenix!

WhipEffectz1, yours is another great testimonial for carrot juice and a great explanation of the juice benefits versus eating raw carrots!

Yeah, just last night he was complaining that his haircuts weren't lasting two weeks anymore. I was like...then lay off my carrot juice!

I was juicing carrots, celery, parsely and spinach together for a week but I noticed that the my skin was looking kind of orangy. Is there anything I can do about that?

Kia, I had the same problem when I was doing the carrot juice last year...basically the same recipe except I would throw a piece of apple in with mine. The only thing I found that helped was to drink less carrot juice. I'm about to start back, btw.

So instead of putting 4 carrots I should like cut back to 2? IS that what you're saying?

I don't know how you ladies do it. I tried drinking some carrot juice from Bolthouse Farms brand and it taste like pure he!!. I hope I can return it or exchange it for something else.

Well I put myself on a diet last week and one of the things that I made part of my eating regime was the spicy V8 tomato juice with all the vegetables. My hair has seemed to have had a growth spurt since I started drinking it. The whey protein is also good for hair growth too.HTH

They should take your carrot juice back or exchange it.

I suggest checking the expiration date on any carrot juice bought in the store. Sometimes they don't check. I bought some very bad, nasty carrot juice before which led me to buying a juicer. It had expired like a month prior.
Odwella had good carrot juice. Frozen cartons of fresh carrot juice are very good, just watch the expiration date.

Carrots are exceptionally high in betacarotene (parsley and spinach are high too) and it will detox your liver fast, which I've learned it the cause of the oranginess. That means you are drinking too much of it at one time. It won't hurt you drinking that much but if you don't want the orange tint, reduce the amount of carrots in your juice. I've learned that two ounces of carrot juice daily is enough for great results, which can come from one large carrot.

Plus, watch what you are combining it with. If you have a juice book, it will tell you that one gets a variety of results when juicing different things together. In this case, there is a LOT of betacarotene (vitamin A) in this juice.

Have you tried their one with passion fruit and apples along with the carrots? You might like that one better...

Thanks for the suggestion Isis and greenilady. I took the juice back and exchanged for the one I grew to love, called Green Goodness. It is high in ]zinc and has very good ingredients such as spirunila [sic], wheatgrass, and the like. Tastes like bananas but it was hella better than that carrot juice *bleh*.

That wasn't available yet in the store, but I will keep my eye open. Personally I want to take as few pills as possible since I am struggling to swallowing it. Plus most of the time, it isn't absorbed by the body.

I noticed today that Wal-mart sells the Bolthouse Farms 100% Carrot Juice, but after reading the ingredients, I knew I wouldn't like it because it had no other flavors or sugar! I bought V8 Splash (they have different flavors). The ingredients are water, carrot juice (its from concentrate though), etc. The order of ingredients is from most to least (mostly water, then carrot juice, etc). This is true of products and foods. I love V8 Splash...if it doesn't work for me as far as accelerated hair growth/thickness, then I'll muster up the courage :ohwell: to get the juice by Bolthouse!

Try the Odwalla Carrot Juice. It's ok. The first time I tasted it I was like ewww! But it grew on me and now I can drink a whole 16oz.

If I was you get the smaller bottle first. Don't spend your money on the liter size bottle just in case you don't like it.

Oh, I love the Odwalla juices! The Chocolate Super Protein, the green Super Food( tastes like mango juice) and the Carrot Juice are my favorites.
