Can your hair just not be able to take any chemicals??

In 2004 I decided to become chemical free. In 2009 I wanted a weave but with some hair left out. Because I workout I could not decide if I just wanted her to press the hair that was left out or just do a texrelax. Well, I opt for the texrelax and 6 weeks later after taken the weave out, my hair underneath was damaged, but the hair left out was fine. I moisturized and seal almost every other day, wash and DC once a week etc.,so I didn't know what happen. So, I decided to do a full weave with no hair left out. I did this for 9 months and my hair grew out beautifully. (I did the same regimen as my first weave). Now, I had a reinstall in Feb. and decided to leave some hair out but this time I opt to just texrelax the part that was left out. After 3 weeks I washed my hair, DC, etc., and by the 4th week the hair that is left out was breaking on 1 side. So, I did everything possible DC once a week with ORS hair mayo, poo wash with keracare moisturizing DC and did a aphogee 2 min reconstruction treatment . I did flat iron on 250 (FHI) and put redkins heat serum on my hair. Still no improvement and now I'm noticing really thick roots(that will not straighten)and more breakage..

I think it's very possible. Anytime you're introducing a chemical to your strands there is a chance that your hair might not be able to hold up to that chemical process. I've heard of alot of fine haired ladies that had bad experiences with relaxing since their strands started out so delicate.

Each person is different though and it may be technique rather then the hair not being able to take it. I also don't think it's a great idea to only texlax the hair that's left out for a weave....it puts you in thie weird limbo where you're not fully natural and not fully texlaxed just choose which you wanna be and stick to it.

Protein overload, probably. Have you ever thought of a moisturizing DC, that might help... and you may need to go easy on the heat as well:yep: Flat ironing my hair weekly is big NO NO for me, although my hair is quite coarse and thick.

I use the Humactant from Keracare. When I washed it the first time I used the honeysuckle conditioner by Audreys as the DC. This is the only new product I introduced this time around. Do you know of any stronger moisturizing conditioners that would help
