5mins processed, freshly, texlaxed hair? I think I read on a thread that you could. For the life of me I have been trying to figure out my texture AND people keep asking me. I honestly don't know. My hair doesn't "seem" to fit any of the catagories. Could there be a fifth catagory?

Can somebody, anybody tell me please???

The only way you would truly be able to tell is on natural unprocessed hair. If your hair has a chemical (relaxer, texlax, texturizer, etc) in it, your texture is altered. Also if yo have new growth, the weight of the relaxed hair could be stretching out your curl pattern.

Thats what I thought, I just thought I read here that you could tell...so I started wondering about myself. Yeah, I know about the whole weight thing ;)

I also thought I read something about pulling a strand and then something...just don't remember what

I really need some Ginko...can't remember much...LOL! Hopefully somebody knows what I'm talking about.

How much new growth do I need, to tell? Say I have 1 1/2 inches and cut the processed part off???

tog tet a curl pattern like that after only five minutes, prally 3c or 4a

I usually texlax for 10 mins...but last time I tried 5, because I'm thinking about transitioning. Now, I was natural about 15 yrs ago and my hair didn't look THAT much different from this pic. People used to ask me if I had a "Curl" :perplexed

Anyway, I sure would like to know!

Thanks for your input ladies!

I think you're talking about that thread I posted about the texturizer vs the relaxer. They meant to wet natural hair and put conditioner in it to see your true texture. Before you get a chemical treatment. Not texturized. IDK how much new growth you'd need but it'd probably have to be at least 3 inches. I didn't see curls in my hair until I got past that point. It was only waves. My hair curled up a lot more once I chopped though. Are you transitioning? I mean if not, it probably doesn't matter. But since you have a curl pattern you're probably a 3b/3c or a 4a. Definitely not a 4b.

I am seriously thinking about it...thats why I only texlaxed for five mins. I need to transition into my natural hair (not sure I'm ready for a bc, I've had short hair, but not short curly hair), I wanted to see if I would like it. Now that I've done a 5 min texlax and now know I can get my edges to lay down without looking greasy or hard gelled. I think I'm about 90% sure I want to...

I really wish I could figure out my exact hair type...I'm gonna find a chart somewhere and look again. I guess they can't match every exact hair type.

What is your type...I think I remember thinking we were hair twins after reading the "Is my hair fine" thread. Are we? :look:

I'm a 4a with a little 3c mixed in. But my hair is fine. We could be. :)

I don't know my hair type either not do I understand how to determine my hair type. Does anyone have a picture of what each hair type looks like?
