I've always dc'd after a prepoo and shampoo. I just use the pre poo to lessen the drying effects of the shampoo not to replace an actual dc.

I do and have. You don't have depending on what you are doing for your pre-poo.
For example, when my hair is dry during a harsh winter, I might use an oil based steam sesson as a pre-poo. I usually follow up with a DC.
However, when I've done a moisturizing pre-poo such as the Chicoro pre-poo using aloe and coconut oil, I didn't follow up with a DC. Knowing your goals and using how your hair feels during your routine should determine what products you use.
