I'm trying to schedule my next relaxer and the best time would be on a Saturday, after my personal training session . . . which means my hair (especially the roots) would be soaking wet. Is this a bad idea?

I dont think this is a good idea...

I havent specifically read where it cant be done, But Ive only heard or seen hair relaxed when dry.:ohwell:

I would not go right after working out at all because your pores will be opening from sweating. Schedule it for in between workout sessions.

My stylist was texlaxing me and wanted to see the texture. She rinsed me and wasn't satisfied and applied more relaxer. I didn't burn and got just the texture I wanted.

ITA. I don't know about the wet hair, but after working out is a definite no no, because there's a higher chance you will burn.

Not a good idea because your pores on your scalp will be open and your scalp WILL burn. If you must, you have to base your scalp really good and sit under a cool dryer so the pores on your scalp can be closed. Nonetheless, you're better off scheduling your appointment another day or reschedule your personal training session.

Your hair needs to be completely dry or else your pores will still be open.

I agree! That is why even with a self relaxer they say wait at least 24 hrs or more after washing your hair to relax it. It takes about 24 hours to make sure all your pores are closed. It may not be easy but try to make time at a different time.

This is the ONLY way I relax my hair. I wash that morning and relax that night. The hair is still wet. It works for me.

NOOOOOO!
D, I never knew you did it like that? What's the reason?
If you ready relaxer instructions, it says to apply to dry hair.

This is a definate NO! NO!:nono: I did this once:wallbash: and your pores will be open and you will burn like CRAZY! So if you don't want underprocessed hair because it starts burning I would wait. HTH.

If I wait a couple of days after washing my hair it itches so bad I'll have sores. If I wash and wait for my hair to dry, that takes days. If I wash and blowdry that still burns.

This is the only thing that works for me. I have to relax on a clean scalp.

When two of my former beauticians made me do it the way it should be done, I had sores for weeks.

I made the mistake of getting a touch-up 2 hours after an exercise session.:wallbash:
After the relaxer was in for just about 5 minutes, my scalp felt like it was on fire, I told the stylist to rinse my hair immediately.
So, I would advise that you wait until another day.

I think it also has to do with the salt that may be deposited on your scalp after you exercise. I believe that sweat has high amounts of salt when released.:ohwell:

Are you trying to relax straight? One way to do a very slight texturizer is to apply relaxer when wet. Mix it into your conditioner and then wash out...

I relax my hair when its still a little damp. I've been doing that since I started texturizing.

Oooh, girl, I dunno if that's such a good idea. I made that mistake with sweaty hair one time back in the day and for me it resulted in big time burning and big 'ol nasty scabs:nono:

Sure you can relax wet, its after the exercise that may give you the problem.

I sweat a lot when I work out, no way would I be thinking to relax my head afterwards.

Some people have scalps of steel and wouldn't have an issue. most would be like that little man with the fire on its head. Exercising pumps up your blood, can make your scalp quite sensitive. I personally wouldn't risk it as I've got a sensitive scalp.

I guess though should you want to go that route, all I can say is the warning is out there, only you can make the decision based off of that.
