Can you Grow 17" in two years?

That's my goal, but my mom says it's impossible. Do you think I can do it? And how can I do it?

I wouldn't say it's impossible...it just depends on certain factors. If your optimal growth rate is really high (like 9" a year) and you're doing everything to get to that growth rate (exercise, eat right, drink water, take supplements if necessary, sleep adequately, etc.) and you do everything to retain all that hair (no trimming, moisturizing, etc.)...then it's possible.

How much does your hair grow per month?

Most human hair grows 1/2 per inch per month so you are talking about getting almost an extra year's worth of growth. How do you intend on doing that?

if your hair grows fast you can. when i consistently used megatek i got 1/2' in two weeks, which equates to an inch a month...and then of course you would have to retain a whole lot of it, probably through bunning or braids/sew-ins...

...i think it's possible. i'm a dreamer anyway, though.

Even if you don't quite make 17 I'm sure you would still be happy and amazed with your progress...I say go for it!

I agree. Some people get an inch a month, so I guess it's possible to grow even more than 17 inches in 2 years, but it depends on a lot of factors.

Yeah i know that Megatek gave me so much growth in 5 1/2 weeks. I'm in a sew-in now and want to get to full shoulder length if not bra strap length by April 09. I get over an inch a month with MegaTek. I guess the only thing that should be added to that is retaining what you grow. Protect those ends!!!!

The fastest my hair has ever grown is 1 inch in a month. It responded well to Indian oils and deep treatments. For the past three months, my hair has grown at least 3 inches. That puts me on track for 12 inches in 12 months.
Can your hair grow this fast?
I don't think it's impossible but it will depend on treatments, length retention, exercise and nutrition I'm sure. Happy growing!

I think it's possible. There's a post on here where a woman grew her hair from shoulder length to almost waist length in year. At first, I doubted it, but then I did the math. If shoulder length hair is from 9-12 inches and WL roughly 24 inches, she was probably getting and retaining an inch a month. Ever since then, I've been wanting to achieve hair growth of 1 inch a month (I don't really know what it is now).

So, I say try it. Just realize it may not happen, but it's worth the journey.

The ladies have given you good advice. All I would add is don't look for validation for your goals from mom or any other outside source. If 17 inch is the goal in your heart so be it. Whether it "can or can't be done or " is irrelevant. You'll find out whether or not you've made it at your own set time.
