Hey ladies, I just got my hair braided in the front and weaved in the back using wet and wavy hair. I usually wear #33 to #30 hair color for my braids, which is kinda brownish-red, but this time I got black (was actually talked into it and I wanted #2, but she gave me 1 by accident I guess and I didnt realize it). I love black hair, but this hair is JET BLACK and I am starting to look like Elvira. NOT cool for the summer to say the least. I was wondering if I can dye the hair, one row at a time to the color I want without going to the roots, and then just change the color of the braids in the front. Does this sound safe? Would I be messing up the hair by dyeing it? Has anyone done this before? I really cant deal with this color....any suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks,

If the hair is human yes...But I would do this before adding the hair to mine. I dont know if i would do it with hair already braided.

I do this to weaves. I hate a weave that is off color. This is the best way to have it match your hair. ;)

If you are talking about dyeing the weaved hair that is in the back that is no problem. I have dyed weaved hair several times before while it was already on my head. I used foil to help make sure that the dye chemicals did not drip onto my braided hair underneath. I WOULD NOT dye ur hair up front if it is already in the braids. But I think ur were only talking about dyeing the weave?

thanks for the reply...i was talking about dyeing the weave and then taking my braids out in the front and getting a different color...hopefully it matches or is close...thanks for the reply again..im gonna do this as soon as I can!

yes i did it myself.... they sell precut foil squares in the BSS but u can just take the reynolds wrap outta the kitchen and cut it into squares yourself. its MUCH cheaper that way. the foil is generally used for hightlighting but even when i did the whole head i used it. i started at the bottom and i took each row at a time , squirt the dye on the weave hair. staying as far away from the root as possible and still have it look good. then wrap the wet/dyed hair up in foil. and go to the next row. that way it doesnt drip all over the place and possibly down onto ur hair below. the foil supposedly helps the dye to "act" faster. to me its not that much of a difference but u may want to keep that in mind....
