Can you do a DC and a protein treatment in the same day?

Tommorow is my was day, and my texlaxed hair has been breaking off in little pieces, and..just no. I'm trying to eventually make it to full MBL, how can I fix this.

I plan to either air dry, or roller set instead of blow drying.
I'm gonna wait to flat iron atleast every 12 days, as my scalp drives me nuts if I don't.

I need to find better products and maybe be even a better flat iron. (I have a Remington Frizz therapy)

Help! How to stop the breakage!
FYI I do take a vitamin everyday, and I TRY :look: to keep up on my water game. Any tips?

I just did that I'm air drying now:)
First I did an overnight pre poo with Nubian Heritage grow n Strengthen masque, rinsed, washed 2x with Aphogee poo for Damaged Hair, used Elasta QP Anti breakage serum with heat for 20mins, then did a moisture DC for 2 hrs under my heating cap!

lamaria211 Thanks for replying! I'm pretty sure that it's heat damage on my ends, they are breaking away on my fingertips :(. I use Shea Moisture Organic Moisture Retention Shampoo ( Honestly, it doesn't feel moiturized after I use it. Maybe I should DC first? ) And then Garnier Fructis Triple Nutriton Conditioner. Next I use Aphogee Keratin and Green tea Reconstrurizer, followed by Jane Carter Revitalizing leave in.

I always DC following a protein treatment. It is a must to follow up a hard protein treatment with a moisturizing DC.

How strong a protein treatment do you fine the Nubian Heritage to be? I'm using the 2 minute presently but doesn't seem to be strong enough to make a noticeable difference.

If your shampoo feels too stripping perhaps dilute it or use a prepoo first. But when I do a moderate protein treatment I always follow it up with a DC. Perhaps just try DC or oiling your ends more as they may be in a need of heavy moisture as well. Your ends may be weak from the heat so perhaps find a gentler way to stretch your hair?

Its not strong at all it has keratin in the last line of the ingredients but it also has bambu and b5. The Elasta QP Anti breakage serum is a little stronger

Yes, for sure. Most protein Especislly strong protein treatment is drying to the hair and you hair will need a deep conditioning treatment to restore the moisture balance of your hair. I suspect lack of moisture or failure to deep condition after protein is why some people think their hair doesn't like protein.

Most definitely. In fact, it is highly recommended that you follow a protein treatment or conditioner with a deep moisturizing conditioner. I just did that 2 days ago after my relaxer touch-up...eventhough its a regular part of my healthy hair care regimen (to alternate protein and moisture evenly). My hair is strong, yet elastic. Alternating protein and moisture is the best way to keep your hair from excessive dryness and breakage.

I used Aphogee 2-min Keratin Reconstructor followed by Farouk Biosilk Smoothing Conditioner. Zero breakage or shedding.

ETA if your ends are breaking at the slightest touch, I agree that it is likely heat damage. Ive had several flat-iron addicted friends go thru this. Best thing to do is trim off the damage and do moisture n protein, along with avoiding heat...if you want to grow it long (and healthy), you'll have to be quite careful with the amount of direct heat usage. Hth!
