It's when they take the relaxer and run it through the already relaxed parts of your hair. It's to smooth out or go back "correct" the underprocessed parts.
After 4 weeks I did a corrective. I greased up the hair that did take and the ends and only reapplyed relaxer to the hair that was under-processed. I was paranoid doing it, but it worked like a charm!
but dosent the already relaxed hair end up getting more relaxed than the newgrowth??

You don't apply the relaxer to the already relaxed hair...just what's underprocessed.
And another thing - that underprocessed part could be anywhere along the shaft of the hair if you've had more than one relaxer that didn't take. And then it was left alone I had hair close to my ends on one side that looked like because I had more than one relaxer not take over the course of time. It was frizzy and fuzzy. My hair dresser took a chance and ran the relaxer through that part again (she didn't tell me until after she did it
) but it corrected that part and it was fine after that. She said she'd rather try that first than to have to cut all my hair because of that one side.
