Hi Guys,

OK, I just found out that im expecting my first baby, and I was told that I shouldnt relax my hair until my 2nd trimester :nono:

My hair is shedding terribly right now and has no shine to it  and my scalp is sooooo sore, like I all of a sudden became tenderheaded overnight

What can I do to, um, make it more manageable until my vitamins take effect, or well darn, is there anything I can do??

I never relaxed during my pregnancies. I never saw evidence that relaxing affects the fetus, but I rather be safe then sorry. I put my hair into braids and weaves the entire time.

Thanks alot guys, I was planning on doing the weave and braid thing as soon as my scalp stops hurting..

:)

I have 2 kids and I relaxed during my whole pregnancy with both of them.. if anything, they have talents that no other kids have that we know.. but that's genetics.. they are both fine and have GORGEOUS hair...if I do say so myself..;) I think it's up to the individual what they think they should do.. I also got my hair highlighted during both pregnancies too!:D

since im natural now and relaxed with both pregnancies i would suggest passing on relaxing until u have the baby...in my experienes my perms never went well...and instead my hair growing it broke off but grow out very nicely after i had the babies to snap off again...of course some of this could juss be my system but hey...i never got braids cuz i dont like beggin ppl to do my hair...but if u can find a braider i would get those :)

i have never been pregnant, but I wouldn't relax during pregnancy. Lots of people do it and things turn out fine, but I wouldn't take any chances. Plus, the relaxer doesn't take sometimes b/c of the hormones. Try braids!! Oh, and Congrats on the baby!!!!

Congrats on the pregnancy! I relaxed after I was 4 months along with my son and same with my daughter. I wore braids each time in the third trimester because the relaxers never took either time. I would suggest braids too once you get past the soreness. Until then do low maintanence styles (ponytails, buns, updos).

Thanks everybody for the well wishes..

Im so excited to be having a baby..

All I know is that this past week I tried a new deep conditioner..Elasta QP DPR and it just made my hair hard and difficult I dont know If I did anything wrong. Plus I had used surge 14 for the first time on my scalp and blamed my sore scalp on that. But It was my little baby

My hair is 18.5" from crown now and I think that Im gonna get about 2 or 3 inches cut off, because my ends look  and if my hair is gonna grow like they say, doesnt make sense to relax, so I think sewn in weaves and braids will fare well, and my hair grows extremely fast anyways, sso this should be interesting. Im wearing a bun now and it hurts my scalp so bad. and my hair is shedding  ... I was thinking of trying to strengthen my hair before braids.. So any safe protien treatments/natural treatments you can recommend??

Thanks
