i was wondering the same thing and i think it can be done. i posted a pic in my album from khamit kinks i'm pretty sure her hair is natural. i think thats the section of their site i found it in. i am either getting a flat iron or straw set when school starts later this month so i will post pics.
I've had my hair rollerset 2 or 3 times(my hair is natural). The process that the hair dresser used was exactly the same as that that I have seen done to relaxed hair.
When the hair is still wet apply some setting lotion. Section the hair off and roller the hair. Go under the dryer for an hour or so. Remove the rollers when the hair is completely dry. When the hair dresser does this to my hair, people always ask if I relaxed my hair.
I want to try this at home, but the curlers that I bought are not the snap on kind, so it is quite difficult for me to do myself. I'll post pics some day if I can perfect a technique.
I'm sitting under the dryer now. After I'm dry, I'll either spray some leave in on the roots and blow them with my blow dryer and paddle brush or I'll just flat iron the roots.
I use the same technique as Aalize except I use leave-in mixed with water instead of setting lotion.

~I really haven't tried rollersetting yet (even though I have the correct rollers & hair dryer to do so) because I'm afraid that all my natural hair will stay shrinked up and my relaxed ends will come out straight. You say people commented that your hair looked relaxed; did the rollerset get your roots that straight? Were the rollers tight? What is your hair type? I’m sorry for all the questions but I’m just a little curious because I don’t seem to think I can get the same results.
It seems as though many are also applying a little more heat after the rollerset to get that added straigt look.
Ok ladies. I wore my hair in a wavy natural ponytail yesterday. I woke up this morning and the hair wasn't cute anymore, so I washed it again, and I'm about to try the rollersetting. I have the KeraCare design foam sample and I'm going to use that with my wetset (from back in the day) rollers.
If I like it, I'll try and get a pic and post it online. I still don't have a digital camera, so I'll have to be snail developing.
Keep your fingers crossed or pray for me b/c if I don't like it. I'm going to have to try blowdrying to get a decent looking bun. I may try a wet bun before I try to blowdry.
I think part of the problem was that I didn't comb through my hair. I'm new to this so I washed it and combed through and after the conditioner I combed through. So I'm going to comb this time.
Hopefully, I'll have great results with the rollerset look.
I have tried rollersetting mine quite a few times. I normally got really tired during the combout process and hte hair would start to dry out so I kept having to respray with water. Overall it turned out ok but I have a section of my hair that is more coarse than others which makes it really hard to detangle -this section gets me discouraged every time. I might give rollersetting a try tonight (again) If I could perfect this technique I don't think I would want a texturizer so badly. I will report back with my results and let you know how things go.
I plan to rollerset once I'm natural and want to go straight. It takes me awhile to rollerset it now so I can't imagine how long it will take once I'm all natural but I'll do it.
I've got great news. My Rollerset went fantastic.
I REALLY loved it. I think I'll see if I can wrap it next? What do you guys think. Will wrapping work too?
That QP Design Foam was great. I used that and Mango Butter on my ends to set it. I'm going to buy that Design Foam. The sample was fantastic!
I knew it was going to turn out beautifully. Post pics if you can. I almost gave a way my Design foam. I've been using it when I do my wet buns. It gives them a nice soft hold.

so do I. Its good to know that I can get my hair str8 without cremating it. Before I came on this board, I had no Idea that naturals rollerset their hair as a straightening method.
