Gym you are like me at 9 weeks I cave in... whew!! I as well am here to support you though!!! GO! GO! GO! :yep:
 
Ok so what's everybody's plan... I think I am going to continue with my wash and goes and low manipulation techniques, these have worked great for me thus far... but when winter comes I will have to change it up a bit. Ok so gym you are going to do some partial blowouts and pin curls, what about you soonergirl?
 
Count me in, too! I stretch for 12 weeks, but around week 10, I always wanna cave in. So I need someone to hold my hand those last couple of weeks. OT: soonergirl, are you in OK? Or are you just an OU fan?
 
I'm going to need support as well. I cave in around 9 or 10 weeks...this humidity does not help. When did everyone last relax/texlax? I'm going to get through this by wearing buns and ponytails. I don't use any heat so this is going to be tough. :ohwell:

Count me in too! The longest I've ever stretched was 10 wks and it wasn't easy, lol. I usually wait 8wks between relaxers but I'm going to start deep conditioning weekly, co-washing in between regular washes, and rollersetting so maybe I'll be able to stretch longer. Great thread.:)
 
I'd love to join but I have a wedding next month and I have to relax for that..But after that I'm game. :grin:
 
I'll stretch with you ladies! My last relaxer was April 5th so I'm nearing 20 weeks post and my next relaxer won't be until December! My last stretch was >8 months. Frequent co-washes, tying the hair down with a silk scarf at night, and moisturizing daily are key IMO. I only detangle once a week under the shower and wear low manipulation styles.
 
I'm right at about 8 weeks post and trying to stretch until November, December if possible. I'd be glad to be your stretching buddy as well. I need all the help and support I can get. I'm trying to get this mane to thicken up a bit. Did a CW this evening and doing Sylver2's scarf method. :yep:
 
I really want to do it but I don't think I can hold out that long. I'm already doing 8-9 weeks. I'm not due for a touchup until the end of September. That will be a full 9 weeks. I don't think I can do 12:wallbash:. At least not right now anyway....lol. I plan to do 12 weeks sometimes and during that time I plan to have my hair cornrowed and have a weave installed again during that time. Good Luck to all of you brave souls who can do the full 12 weeks. I'm not there yet..9 is my limit..maybe 10...lol.
 
Oh, my last touch-up was on August 19th... I'm good lets do this!!! My new growth is doing great!!! For the ladies that have doubts about lasting 12 weeks... why do you have doubts? Is it breakage? Touch new growth? Or maybe just the way the new growth looks? Just curious

I think for myself it's just thinking that my hair will be difficult to manage---although that may not be true. My new growth is doing fine..there is a lot of it but it's not giving me trouble at this point. I keep it well moisturized. I never get my hair relaxed bone straight anyway and actually like the look and feel of my 'texturized'/natural roots. I guess it's just habit basically. I've just started doing long stretches W/O a weave in so I guess it's just something I'm not used to but really trying hard to get over that.

I just don't want it to get to a point where I can't comb through it or look professional and I'm limited in my styling knowhow. I only do a couple of things to my hair. I guess once I learn different techniques..like braid outs/twist outs etc...I will be able to do longer stretches... I hope so anyway:yep:.
 
I need some help too. My last relaxer was May 30th. I would love to stretch until the First of December. Please help! Ladies, what do you do with your hair during a loooooong stretch? I am thinking about the crown and glory method. Help Help Help:wallbash:
 
I am in.. I am 6 weeks post.. I actually want to stretch for 6 months, so that I actually only relax 2x a year. I will be doing the crown & glory method. Wish me luck ladies.
 
I'm in, too.:grin: My last touchup was 6/29 and i am trying to for the first time stretch to 24wks. I've been doing the usual, bunning. Also i've been prepooing, shampooing, and deep conditioning once a week with the usual moisturizing, etc... I really don't have a plan either, we all could help each other. This is wonderful, i wish all you ladies the best.
 
Gym! I'll hold your hand, but I can't stretch with you since I'm 13wks and will be relaxing next week after vacation. Girl you offer such good advice when I'm stretching. You can do it. Believe me if I can go 14 wks anybody can.

But I think it's easy for me because my hair grows really slowly. I don't notice any new growth until a month after a relaxer.
What really help me is my mid-week wash and DC. If I go a week straight my hair shrinks up and looks all unkept and is really hard to deal with. Another thing I do is no combing unless on wash days

Hi,

I can lend a hand.
I will be 7 weeks post this coming Sunday. This last time was the longest I had ever stretched from March 28 to July 23. I never want to do that again.
I will try to make it to 12 weeks this time.

Need to get to October 7.
 
I wanna get in on this too! I'm 7.5 weeks post and I'm trying to get to Sept. 29th. The longest I've ever stretched was 7 weeks, except for right now.
