I recently recieved my Qhemet Honeybush Hair Tea Gel, which I LOVE! Today was the day after my wash, and I was in a rush so I just put some of the gel all over my hair and brushed it in with my BBB. OMG, I was in a hot car for hours today, and my hair is silky and moisturized! That's NEVER happend before! My hair feels like it's been lightly coated with a silicone serum, and I love that feeling, but my hair hates cones. The first ingredient in the gel is Distilled Water, so can the gel be a moisturizer, too? It doesn't contain any protein, either. I don't want my hair to start breaking in the long run...

I think so, especially if water and glycerine are ingredients. If there are not drying agents in it, (I believe the Honeybush Hair gel is mostly natural minus a small amount of preservative maybe) I can see it being moisturizing. I don't think you'll have any problems as far as breakage or drying from this particular gel.

What are some of the other ingredients in it again?

(I had it a looooooooong time ago, but can't remember)

The ingredients are : Distilled water infused with Organic Honeybush Leaves, Vegetable Glycerin, MSM, Sodium Polyacrylate, Phenoxyethanol, Mixed Parabens, and Fragrance.

Sounds good. I'm gonna order this one day once I'm done with my Aveda Brilliant Humectant Pomade :).

Gels can be moisturizing as long as theyre mostly water and glycerin. I HATE protein in gels, protein dries out my hair soooo bad and makes it so dry and brittle. Any gel that doesn't contain protein or sd alcohol for that matter will probably be ok.

Why did I click on this thread :( .......see now ya'll gone make me order some of this stuff!
I have become a serious PJ! :p

i used scurl gel for years & it never dried my hair out so I would say yeah, they can be moisturizing

I think they can. I use Let's Jam Gel and actually have more softness than hold with it.

What's so funny is I just finished googling the Honeybrush Hair Tea Gel - I went on the website and ordered the sample products. I seriously need help for my PJism!

Wow, scurl gel dried my hair out terribly, but my dad swears by this stuff. He has huge jars of it under the bathroom sink.

:lachen: I'm sorry! I need help, too, I just made another CurlMart order last night. That place is the devil. I hope you love the gel as much as I do!

I think so. I used aloe vera gel (FOTE) on my ends today and it kept my hair moisturized and soft. I haven't had these kinds of results in a while.

What's FOTE? I keep seeing people post it on here and on NaturallyCurly, but I have no idea what it means. Man, now I'm going to have to go buy some.

FOTE = Fruit of the earth

I don't know what they put in the Fantasia IC gel for colored hair (blue kind) but it is the most moisturizing gel in their sparkelites product line and it's CHEAP.

Gels can be moisturizing if they dont contain any drying alcohols.
My favorite gels are FOTE Vitamin E Gel, and Long Aid Curl Activator Gel, there both moisturizing.
