Love yourself first!
I just read a post where someone said when they stopped the weekly conditioning, their hair improved. I just joined the Deep Conditioning Challenge and was planning to do this on a weekly basis. I just dont want any setbacks.
Thanks

The more deep conditioning, the better. I do it bi-weekly.

Once a week is very good too. The only thing that may be bad about it is if you use heat and your hair doesn't like heat. Or build-up, but deep conditiong weekly with a good conditioner wouldn't give you horrible build-up.

Maybe they were talking about using a protein conditioner weekly? You can get protein overload from it if you do it too often.

ML....I have a question.. You have beautiful hair. What were you doing before you found this board? Did you condition regularly or infrequently before you got here? Whatever you were doing or are doing...it's working.

Hair twin...do what works for ml's hair.

Deep conditioning weekly can't cause damage to your hair, but it could make your hair limp if your hair gets TOO TOO TOO much moisture. (and by TOO I mean a LOT, I've been deep conditioning every week for the past 10 months and my hair hasn't gotten limp so..)

For the most part, I deep condition my hair each time that I wash it, and it's been pretty healthy.

Great points!

I deep condition every time I wash, 2x per week. No problems at all and I've been doing this since I came to LHCF.

I used to deep condition once per week but now have stepped up to 2x per week, my hair LOVES it, it is so much thicker and more beautiful. Your hair MUST have a deep condition at least once a week - especially if you are relaxed.

It's never presented a problem for me unless I used Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Reconstructor Deeeeep more than two days in a row. For some reason, my hair feels hard when using just that deep conditioner too frequently. Otherwise, my hair does fine with bi or even tri weekly deep conditioning.

I wonder if this is referring to using a heating cap. I use a heating cap when I deep condition and I usually use it for 1 to 1.5 hours -- 15 mins to 30 mins for the pre-shampoo treatment and then 30-40 minutes for a deep treatment. If it's a protein I sometimes try to follow up with another 30 minutes of deep moisturizing treatments. I have often wonder if all of heat -- even though it is the only heat that I use and it is in the form of a heat cap, not a blowdryer, might be counterproductive. Maybe the person in the post was referring to the heat?

I'd love to hear your views on this.

BTW, I deep condition at least two times per week and will probably up it to three times a week.
