I have African Royale braid spray, but I need something I can put on my scalp to keep it moisturized because the braider said I have a dry scalp. She recommended something called Q silk, but she said that I could only get it from a distributer:sad:

Here's the pic of Q silk

oil doesnt moisturise the scalp per say ... just keeps it oily. Why don't you just use your braid spray and concentrate on the roots mainly ?

I don't like oils or anything on my scalp (although I did use some oil concoction when I had a bald spot), but I just wanted to mention that coconut oil is a good skin moisturizer so maybe it'd work on scalp too? I'd add essential oils (eg rosemary, lavendar) if I were using an oil on my scalp. :yep:

you know you could always moisturise your scalp then baggy your entire head to ensure super moisturising ?

I'd suggest an essential and carrier oil mixture.

When I had braids (not cornrows), I used a braid spray. You could possibly use a MN mixture (see the sticky) since MN would kill any type of fungus that could be causing your dry scalp.

Peppermint oil helps with any itching, I would mix it with another oil though (I use it in my MN mixture).

If you need a moisturizer, you could also use glycerin and water, or aloe vera juice and water.

HTH!!!!

I agree with Nonie......try coconut oil.
Also try Jojoba oil. It's close to our natural sebum.

I am in cornbraids, too....for the next 6 months. I use the braid spray and infusium23 to moisturize nightly. I use OCT on the scalp 4x per week, and I just bought BM to use on the scalp in-between OCT. I also wash 2x per week. So, I dont think my scalp has a chance to get too dry. But I agree with previouse posters, the Braid spray is very moisturing. It should keep your scalp from getting dry, too.:yep:
