I am in the process of getting my first sew in. I just permed my hair and will wait approx. 3 weeks before. Tell me what works best when washing, conditioning, and oiling. What has worked and what hasn't. I plan on using MTG or WGO as I have them both. My worst fear is the shedding and possible breakage. I've done a strand test and my hair doesn't pop, so I'm guessing its strong enough. Please give me your honest thoughts and opinions....I know you will anyways bc this is LHCF!!!

I am looking for hair similiar to Kelly Rowland's curly doo. What hair would you suggest?

I would like to know this too. The stylist that I went to this past week suggested that I get a sewn in weave to give my short relaxed hair a rest. So hopefully this MTG & WGO usage will give me some more length so that I will have enough for the lady to braid & have a style that looks right. We'll see ;).

I have a sew in. I oil my scalp w/ either the hair oil blend that I have or mtg mixed w/ surge and peppermint oil. Or I'll just use surge. I use shea butter or oil on the hair that is left out. I shampoo/condition or co wash once a week. To make the process easier I mix shampoo and water in a spray bottle and spray the braids. I do the same w/ conditioner. This really helps with the cleansing and conditioning. HTH

thanks Nita81!

I forgot to add that I put my oils in an applicator bottle for an easy and non messy application to the scalp

Like Nita said... Use a color applicator bottle to apply oil to braids. I alternate btw MTG, Jamaican Cactus Serum, and Leave in liquid Mayo. I also normally use my Shea butter mixture to moisturize at night. When I do that I actually seperate and "grease the parts".

For washing: Wash/Cond in the shower at least once per week.

On the weave: Make sure the braids are not too tight and that the braided ends are sew down good before applying the actual weave tracks. It is also a good idea to use some fake hair to reinforce the braids that are around ur edges (if u sew them up) or any thin areas.

Almost forgot... I use ORS fertilizing temple balm on my edges daily to help keep them from thinning out...

Noramlly at local BSS. But its becoming increasingly hard to find. So not too long ago I purchased some at this online beauty site www.bargainside.com. I love it b/c it allows u to oil w/o the build up. Its made for people w/dreads but works wonderfully in this case too b/c I have indian hair for the weave and it doesnt take as well to oil as "our" hair does....

Here is a pic of what the bottle looks like.

Jamaican Cactus Serum

where do you purchase this?
thanks in advance

yeah i think it could be used by any hair type but the problem is that its a lil "wet" in texture. so if u are relaxed and then u apply this it will be similar to putting a lil water causing it to wave/curl up...

they also sell just a regular oil, which is nice too. not as good as the serum IMO. but a nice option for someone who wears their hair straight
