Last week Thursday I got my hair cornbraided. It was fine until Saturday, then they started feeling too tight. I sprayed water and braid spray to loosen them up. It helped at first, but my scalp became irritated again. I had to leave them in because we were taking family portrait pictures on Wednesday, and my sis-in-law took me to the nearest beauty supply store for a wig and the few they had looked like a helmet on my head.
I finally got home today, a week later, and I am taking the braids out. they loosened up a little, but I have little bumps all over my scalp. What should I use to soothe it? Should I use tar shampoo?

I'm not familiar with tar shampoo. I would give my scalp an oil massage to help soothe it. A shampoo with tea tree would feel great as well.

Would it also calm and soothe these bumps?

Take them braids out- the bumps are a sure sign that they are too tight.
This is why our hair suffers from traction alopecia cause people braid to darntootin tight.:nono:

Thanks ladies. (DON'T STONE ME!!:look:), but has anyone kept their braids in anyway when this happened? Believe me, I am taking these joints out, but just want to know the outcome of your experiences.

I have experienced this before. The bumps usually go down followed by hair loss. The hair grows back eventually.
