Melt it down to a semi liquid and then whip it. I put my shea butter in a glass Purex bowl, then I put some hot water in a shallow pan and place the purex bowl in it and the shea butter begins to melt. Then I just whip it with a hand mixer until it turns fluffy.
Mixing it in a food processor will also do the trick.. You can add a little oils while the food processor is running and that whipps it up great.. I tried it b4 and my shea butter was a little hard b4 I started and I mixed it up with some oil.. I will tell you to soak that processor after you finish its not the best thing to clean out..
There are some video's on you tube. I tried one but made a mistake of mixing in a cream that was water based and it came out gritty, so I suggest you only stick with oils.
Great question OP!! Now that my hair is long enough to twist (just barely) I've been considering what I would use to twist it with when it gets long enough to wear the twist out in public.
I tried shea butter in my hair before, but wasn't really feeling it. I plan on trying it again soon, and a "Butter soufflé" sounds absolutely
Thanks for the responses ladies! I'm gonna check out youtube!
Same here! Soften up in microwave for about 10 seconds, add a oil to dilute, if not, once it cools after whipping it will return to a stiff state, but whipped, if that makes sense! Heres my recipe, that you can see down there in my siggy: Shea Butter warmed, slightly, EVOO, Castor Oil, Jojoba Oil and some Essentials of Rosemary and Peppermint! My Bad, I did'nt use Jojoba in the last one, but I did in the one prior, its totally your choice of what Oils to use, but that makes the difference on how soft it stays once chilled back to room temp! Its a very good recipe, its so moisturizing! HTH!
