Hi All:

I have been bunning since June 2nd, and I am really tired of the same style. I am going out with my boyfriend to a concert this Friday, and I really want to look yummy! So, I have considered 1) giving in to the heat (I refuse to do this...) or 2) using additional hair to make a more defined bun.

I have never had a weave, braids or extensions, so I am TERRIFIED to use extra hair. However, I found a really nice YouTube protective style that looked really natural. What do you all think, should I try it? Have you all tried this before? Could the extra hair be damaging? Do you have any tips on making sure it looks natural?

All comments welcomed. Thanks!!! :-)

Are you relaxed? You should learn how to rollerset.

I think we need more information about your hair.

There was that gorgeous bun someone posted a few days ago you could try that. You can also try play with parts/ side bangs and some cute hair accessories.

No. I'm not relaxed. I have mostly 3c hair with some 4a sections. My hair is shoulder length with minor heat damage. I'm doing protective and low manipulation styling to retain length and protect my natural curl pattern.

If you are just going to add hair for a bun, its not going to damage your hair. When hair is usually damaged with extension hair is because of moisture issues over a long period of time. So try the extra hair in the bun. I think you will probably like it.

If you already have heat damage, try the bun 1st and the heat as a last resort. And even though you are natural you can still rollerset. There are some yt videos with naturals rollerset.

That will give you some extra styling options.
