Alright so this is going to sound like a weird, off-the-cuff type question but:
Would you ladies say it to be common sense that if you've hit bra-strap in a year then you should be double that in two years? Reason I ask is that since i'm apart of the "Waistlength by 2008" group and i'm looking to grow my slightly beyond BSL hair out to waistlength in a year, if it took me this long (and I bc'ced so my hair was shortly curled around my ear) wouldn't common sense dictate to all of us if we've grown a certain amount of hair in a certain period of time then isn't it possible to, again, grow the same amount of hair in the same amount of time?

Just curious ladies about your thoughts!

PS; I guess the only hindering factors would be regular ol' setback like trimming too much, or causing some type of damage to the hair? Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance!

That's what I am thinking and hoping. I am right at BSL and if my hair will grow 1/2 inch per month then by the end of Dec, 08 I should have somewhere between 5-8 inches.

Well it is my goal and I am going for broke, so if I don't lose any length then I should be either on target or darn near close by the end of '08.

I am adding extra months just so I won't be too discourage if my hair growth does not meet my expectations. :look:

Trying to be realistic but yet hopefully positive, if that is possible.:yep:

I answered yes and think that you can expect the same kind of growth that you've experienced before as long as there are no major health problems or other negative changes.

But I think retention is just as important as growth. The hair that grew from ear-length to BSL in one year, is just over a year old. If it takes another year to grow to waist length, that same hair is two years old.

I'm not sure if this makes sense, but I think you can get the same amount of length in a year if you can keep the hair you have already grown.

Ditto. This makes a lot of sense.

Once i hit brastrap (June 2006) i hit MBL within 6 months and waistlength within another 6 months, so yes its possible, and you may find hair grows faster when you hit brastrap length due to less friction on your clothes (shoulders)

That is what I was thinking, thanks for confirming. Now my main focus will be about maintaining the ends since my growth regimen seems to be doing very well. Ends are good also but I am watching those like a mother lioness with new baby cubs. In short....babying those ends. :babyg:

:yep:

thats what im hoping for, i have a long torso so i probably wont get to exactly waist length, but this time next year i better be an inch or 2 away

you have it exactly. as long as you keep doing what you did to achieve your hair goals, you set yourself up to repeat that success, time after time. that's why finding & sticking to a regime that works for you is vital.

I'm hoping so too for the both of us! And its funny too- 1/2 inch of growth certainly doesn't seem impossible at all.... I just know that periods during the year my hair tends to grow slower. Here's about where I am now:

c32ef79f5694.jpg

this is about my hair length stretched slightly now.... I didn't do such a hot job with the picture because I was too busy focusing on grasping the phone but i've got about another inch or two not visible in the camera...

I figure if i'm here now then I should be double this come this time next year.... seems logical but I know i've set goals before but this is a bit different because as my hair gets longer, it becomes more tough all the time to maintain my hair. This picture is just merely a view of one of my updos.... but it can get unruly.

I first set my goal at this year- before I went natural in aug 06. I probably would have made it too with the relaxing and all.... then I set my natural waistlength goal at 2012 barring any setbacks so I wouldn't have to use growth aids or anything but could just take it calm and easy. 2012 is still a goal for unstretched waistlength but waistlength stretched i'm all for 2008! All we have to do is try and we'll make it!!!:yep:

I was thinking maybe so, it took me a year to get to shoulder length and I was trying to shorten it and get to armpit length by Christmas Ah :look::look:I don't know about that yet, I might have to actually wait until April my true second year to actually get to armpit if that is the case:wallbash: I got three more years to get to waistlength. I was hoping to be waistlenght by 2009 but 2010 would actually be my year, Keep hope Alive.

I actually think I can make WL by this time next year provided I DONT mess my hair up. Im BSL now and have a few strands MBL.

I believe you can assume you will come very close to repeating past progress if all the variables have remained the same...no new regimen, change in climate, pregnancy, medication, stress levels, etc.

I think its safe to assume

Of course its all about how well you can retain the length. If I go to bed without some type of protective style I can guarantee you that I will be the same length next year, regardless of the fact that my hair will grow 6 inches.

Girl, this thread is giving me hope lol. I wanna be bsl in december sooo bad!! I'm not APL yet but dang it, I'm trying.
