I'm really interested to know how you do your braid outs. I've tried it and my hair doesn't come out nearly as soft and wavy as yours!

Hi & thanks for the compliment!

I do a conditioner wash with Elucence. Then after squeezing water out, I put extra virgin olive oil from mid part to ends only. Then I spray S-curl activator spray (white bottle blue writing) all over. Not excessively, just a few squirts. Then I plait 2 pigtails & let it air dry. If you can let the hair dry 100%, then the waves hold and look much better than if the hair is undone damp.

I'm looking though to do maybe 3 or 4 next time concentrating on the crown to get it more wavy up there.

Sometimes I skip or alternate the olive oil step if I'm washing the hair every day (which happens if I'm exercising alot for a week).

Let me know if you give it a try? What do you use at the mo?

Right now, I'm doing a braid out, twist out, or just letting my hair air dry. After each of my braid outs, I usually say I'm just gonna wrap my hair next time, but then here comes someone with some better advice for me!

When I do my braid outs I usually use infusium 23, and then fantasias leave in conditioner, and then I use wonder 8 oil. I usually do about 10 braids, and seal them with profectv healty ends (because I don't have any oils yet!) I usually let them dry overnight and i take them out and finger comb in the morning. Sometimes I'll run a wide tooth comb through them...2 days later, my hair is a hot mess and I can't even get my fingers through it (not to mention DRY DRY DRY!!!)..HELP!! What can I do about that?

Your hair is just beautiful..how long have you been caring for it?

Firstly, when you do the airdry thing and braid it, do you still sleep in a silk scarf? I do because that stops it drying out for a start.

Also, I don't run a comb through it or finger comb it because that would make the waves disappear. I know from reading mags and stuff that people with curly hair, aren't supposed to touch it too much since the more you do, the more it's likely to start frizzing because you disturb the curl or wave.

The key thing for me is the scurl (much kudos to Adrienne

for this rec). Its the glycerine in it thats acting as a strong moisture retainer for the hair, therefore stopping it from drying out. So when you let it dry in your hair with braids, the hair dries soft because it stayed moisturized.

After unplaiting the braids, try not to play with the wavy hair too much, I don't comb it or nothing, I just try and hide the centre back parting

and go.

Try the scurl after washing the hair one day and see if you like it. Spray all over, then do the braids. You don't have to necessarily put the other products in too unless its your preferance. For me, adding olive oil before is enough and adds to the moisture thing.

After the first day, that evening (if I don't wash it), I re-wet the hair, then spray some more scurl in and braid it back again. This can go for a max of 3 days ish for me then I need to do a wash if I've not done so already by then.

I've been caring for my hair always but I've got MUCH better at it since learning some core things like stopping curling irons/weekly blowdrying to dry my hair, rollarsetting etc etc. Its an ongoing process....
