It is said that the average person sheds some hair per day. What is the absolute number of hairs you lose per day before trying to correct the problem?

I dont really count the shed hairs, but I know what is normal for me. The times that I shed more are when I need to wash my hair, or when Im way overdue for a re-touch. I think experts say that 50-100 hairs is normal to shed in a day.

I don't think there is an absolute number. It would be impossible to count how many hairs you lose in a day. Some fall without you even seeing them, some go down the drain, some stay in the comb/brush...I think it's impossible to say for sure. Not to mention everyone's hair cycle and rate of hair shed is different. I think the only reasonable way to determine is to know who much you shed on a regular basis. So that means you have to have been paying attention to this over a period of time. If you notice that you start to lose more than what is normal for you, or if you notice your hair becoming thinner, then you need to take corrective action. Hopefully you can pick up on the extra hair loss before the thinning begins. HTH!;)

I ask because I count. :) I'm mostly natural and have an all white bathroom, I count the hairs after I condish wash and if I get over 5 or 10, I'm watching out...I really don't like getting any....

Yeah, counting hair... it's possible. I think a lot of ladies count what's in the comb. Now I do not. I feel like what I lose is normal, so if it ever becomes too much, I'll deal with it then.

Just make sure the hair you're losing has the white bulb on the beginning of it. (I do check this!), then you know it's shedding as opposed to breaking. (which looks like small hairs with no white tip)

I think I'm shedding too much. Wayyyy too much. I can just run my hand through my hair in the shower, and my hand is covered with strands. At first I was like, eh, whatever, but now it's starting to bother me. I have really thick natural hair, so the shedding isn't noticable. But everyday I'm shedding like crazy. I used to never shed more than a few strands.

I think if I counted my shed hairs per day (or on wash day) I'd be exhausted!! I shed A LOT, but it doesn't really bug me. I grab globs of hair from the drain after I wash/dc/detangle, and my white tile floor is covered in little hairballs (my cat likes to eat them, gross I know) :perplexed. I stopped taking Biotin when I felt the shedding was too much. But, as long as I'm not thinning its manageable.

I don't comb alot. So when I do I see shedding. I don't really care too much about that, because my hair is still growing. Either way comb or no comb you are still going to lose something.
