Breaking down under the pressure of humidity

Hey, ladies. I'm wondering if it's just me or is anybody else suffering the effects of the summer humidity. As much as I typically enjoy the versatility of my hair, I've found myself wandering in and out of countless BSS's in search of some miracle phony pony or weave hair. Unfortunately, my hair texture and color have not been easy to match and I've come away empty-handed time after time. I almost needed an intervention earlier this week when I toyed with the thought of texlaxing after three years of being natural!

I finally came to the realization that I need to get somewhere and sit down and come up with other creative hairstyle options (even if it means buns.) In my most recent minutes of desperation, I went back to my albums to try and recapture just what it was I loved about my hair. Now I see why it's good to have pictures -- it's a breath of fresh hair to look back at those good hair days and remember that this is only a temporary season.

Upstate NY is in the middle of a serious hot, humid spell. High 90's for the temp and the humidity. It is killing me and my hair. I have just been tucking my hair up and under with a clip. Nothing else is working. And like you said, it won't last forever.

Girl, I gave up on trying to fight humidity years ago. I rock buns, ponytails, and sometimes braidouts. Anything else is not going to hold and I'm tried of trying to make it.

The less I fight my hair, the better friends we are.

I never used to pay attention to my hair when I was treating it badly but now I look after it and its my first summer I am dicovering for the first time "humidity". I dont try to fight it because I dont know how to be honest:perplexed

I stopped fighting and gave in to wearing a french braid most days. Even that poofs around the top by late afternoon. But at least it's neat and out of my way.

You're definitely right about not fighting it -- it's a losing battle anyway!

Thank YOU for starting this thread! I just thinking the same thing on my way to work this morning. Even my attempt's at braid/twist outs are not working...one reason my hair is not completely drying....and w/ my hair....damp hair means FRIZZZ :wallbash:. I was just thinking that maybe I could just texturize once and just grow it all back out ....maybe do once a year. Now I know I don't want to deal w/chemical relaxers anymore....I'll be glad when this weather passes. I may try getting it blown out this weekend...at least that way it wlll show length even when it frizzes out. Then I'll just put in big twist and have a nice s-t-r-e-c-t-c-h-e-d twist out! LOL Well maybe......I hate humidity. :nono: LOL
