Hey ladies, I need some help. I was a little bad this week and strayed from my regimen, which in turn had what seems like disastrous effects on my hair. I only washed my hair, moisturized and sealed once this week (on Monday). This week was a little hectic and I was only wrapping it at night, and then putting it up during the day while not bothering to comb or apply moisture. Today I knew I had to get up in that mess and try to comb it out. I did, but I had so much breakage that I'm worried. :ohwell:. I don't know what I should do. Is it better to follow up with a hardcore protein treatment like Aphogee 2 step? Or is it better to just try smothering it with moisture during a DC? It seemed very dry (obviously, since I hadn't moisturized), but I would really like to be able to stop the breakage before I damage what little progress I have made. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!

If you're having breakage due to dryness, then you probably don't want to do a protein treatment...it will only dry your hair out further. I would suggest trying to get your moisture back so it will stop breaking off. Do a DC with some EVOO mixed into your regular conditioner and moisturize and seal before air drying. All week long make sure you moisturize and seal everyday until you see the dryness disappear (you may have to do this more than once a day).

Have you clarified lately? I know when I had unexplained breakage it was due to product build-up.

Thanks! I think you're right. I'm just going to deep condition and try to get the moisture back into my hair.

I was honestly confused about what clarifying shampoos did and I haven't bought any out of pure cheapness. I thought I could scrape by without it. But being cheap isn't helping so I might give that a try! I have never clarified, so that could be it. Thanks!

I was going to tell you that I've seen less breakage since applying egg to my hair, but Dachies Rule made a good point that protein might not be a good idea if you know that your hair is too dry. After the egg treatment I also use the Yes to Carrots Mask with EVOO and coconut oil added and sit under the steamer. Good luck...I'm sure it will stop soon.

Ditto, ditto, ditto. :yep:
